I’m all around Oakland county etc trying different places….anyways this place really caught my eye for obvious reasons…now when I got there it was a completely different story, I sat at the bar granted it was a Saturday night but it took almost I think 30 minutes for Courtney the bar tender to even look at me, anyways I got a bottle of blue moon and finished it a half hour or so later…I wasn’t aware of Courtney’s name so I gave it 10 minutes and tried getting ahold of her…remember it’s a Saturday night, decent amount was going on but not enough to not be served….well I tried getting her attention and she wouldn’t budge, so I finally stood up and politely called her ms bar tender…she didn’t like it which I completely gave her the benefit of the doubt, understood and apologized…still don’t think she should have approached me in the disgusting manner she did…anyways I got my other beer…gentleman next to me even offered to pay for it…anyways the night was wrapping up so I asked for a bill…now listen I really would’ve thought it was a mistake but I’m almost certain it wasn’t…well when I got my bill it’s was for almost 20 dollars…I mean for even 2 blue moons that’s ridiculous but I only bought one and again the gentleman next to me offered to buy me the other one…I brought it to Courtney’s attention and I got nothing but additude, she did fix my bill to 6 dollars, but even that for a 12 oz blue moon is insulting…as I was wrapping up with my buddies another waitress came by who’s name I didn’t even really catch..but yea she literally tried bossing up on me and fighting me lol…if a manager is reading she a shorter burnet lady and she works Saturday night….look I’ve never left a review good or bad…but last night was honestly too much bullcrap…all I wanted was to go out and enjoy my Saturday night after the long shift I pulled…never ever will be coming back to this establishment…how could I? I’ve never been treated like that AT AN...
Read moreI love a good Irish pub and lack a really atmospheric joint close-by. Stopped into Irish Tavern (IT) on a blustery, grey August night in hopes of getting some food that stuck to my bones and assuaged that longing for a pint of Guinness and some boxty.
Irish Tavern is situated at the end of a strip mall. The interior boasts a lot of TVs, but not obtrusively loud. Green, white, and orange lights decorating the ceiling add charm in an Irish flag. We loved hearing the rain beat on the tin roof over the covered outdoor patio.
The vibe is good, quite a few locals and families just chilling on a very grey day. Slip into a cozy booth and stay a while, or belly up to the bar. IT invites that kind of chill. It's not quite the neighbourhood Irish pub experience in an ancient stone or wooden pile, but it gives something close.
Food here includes some good Irish staples like shepherd's pie, corned beef, and boxty. The burgers come big and piled with fries, even the kid's portion. Sandwiches get an extensive side of the menu. Along with special soups on the chalkboard, these can make a great lunch.
Unfortunately, the food we ordered came only lukewarm like it sat on a counter too long. My shepherd's pie was disappointing, the potatoes not even room temperature. The fries for kiddo's burger seemed fresher, but if they were due out from the fryer later than the other dishes, maybe it's a timing issue.
I was disappointed in the service. Our server was pretty detached and terse, maybe because of the hour or the rain outside. She took drink orders and dropped off the food, then vanished in between. Thunderstorms are no fun for some. Maybe she wasn't comfortable? I don't know, but it was awkward to ask about the food temperature when we already got a sense the server was unhappy.
I'd be willing to try IT again, hopefully to see if the service / food...
Read moreI was in there Wednesday July 27th at around 7:30-8:45pm. Initially we spent 12 minutes waiting for the bartender to ask us about drinks. When she did she didn’t ask ask us about food and walked away too fast. When she returned with the drinks. She still walked away without asking about food and not giving the opportunity to mention it. Finally we were able to order food. While waiting on our food we asked for more drinks 4 times and she always forgot to bring them. After that 4th time asking, she finally brought drinks. Now my lady received her food and I received part of mine. I ordered mild wings and fries. The fries came but not the wings. I noticed the bartender put wings under the bar. I mentioned it and she said “oh yeah these are yours”. I actually had the fries for 15 minutes before I received the wrong wings. Now she brought the jerk chicken ones. Not what was ordered and only reinforces the point that she paid no attention to us. With the amount of time I waited for the wings. I decided to cancel the food order instead of the bartender having them remade. Now it would have been better if the bartender had tried to make it right but she just brushed it off. To add to the issue, the bartender was eating while she was working. Sitting there watching her eat while I was not able. If I was the owner I’d be upset that a customer that has ordered carry out and dined in about 50 times over 2 years, had to go to a competitor to simply eat dinner. Its sad because this place has been amazing but the past few times there’s been service issues. In conclusion the bartender in question needs to pay attention to what is going on and. It so much attention to her friends she seemed to hang with at the...
