Panda Express — Restaurant in Royal Oak

It was pretty slow when I walked into this location of Panda Express and I got greeted fairly quickly. Everything on the table looked pretty fresh and they were making new food as I got there.

I got my usual order, which was a plate with fried rice, sweet fire chicken, and black pepper angus steak (does have an up-charge but is worth it). The portions weren't as big as I was used to but the food was still really good. The steak entree was also mostly vegetables, but it was still good. The sweet fire chicken is always amazing. The juicy pineapples really add to the flavor. The rice was fluffy and delicious.

I tried the apple pie roll for the first time today. That was pretty good. The outside was crisp and sugary, and the inside was soft and warm. Would obviously be better with fresh apples, but for a fast food place, I was pleasantly surprised.

Will not be back to this location. All 4 visits I have had issues. From them being out of items and refusing to make more eventhough there was still an hour till closing time. To being given the wrong item through drive. Rude service. Finally today got stuck behind one car in the drive for over 20 minutes. While waiting received a text saying order was ready. When I finally decided to go in to pick it up I mentioned that I got a text that it was ready almost 15 min. ago and didn't want it if it's been sitting there. Was told it's ok because it's still hot from being under the lamp. Well yes it was hot but not fresh as suspected. I understand I could have went in to pick it up. Which I eventually did, but I also kept thinking any minute now. Who would think it would take...

I was hungry and I never had a problem with Panda Express. I don’t know what happened this day but, I ordered the 3 entree’s and a side. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and there was no honey on the shrimp and that was the nastiest shrimp I ever had. I ordered the orange chicken and it tasted like there refused to put some orange on the chicken. Lastly, ordered the peppered beef and it was just no flavor in the beef. I hope the health department inspects them and close them down for charging people a lot of money for their food then they are hungry and not putting no flavor in the food.
