3/3/23 Tried the new spot and its a beautiful reaturant now. They just opened on superbowl and i think they are experiencing some growing pains. They changed the menu up a bit with some new items and some taken away. Noteably they only have one size antipasta salad. We tried the cheese, buffalo bob and the spicy garlic, for pizzas. We also ordered breadsticks and the antipasta salad. Took a while to get our food and unfortunately, it all came out once which kinda sucked since we were at a 3-4' square table. During our meal we went without refills for a good 15-20 minutes. Also since our table was full and i was using a pizza as a plate i condensed as soon as i could to make room. I noticed that the aerver mainly handled thier own tables, because I had a couple things stacked up on the edge that multiple servers passed up on thier way back to the kitchen. Now that you guys are bigger, the servers really need to work together. In terms of the pizza, the buffalo bob we think was lacking buffalo taste, and we just werent a fan of the crazy garlic. Honestly i think both pizzas were just lacking sauce in general, Defiantly a little bummed on this visit, but we will try again at a later date. Thanks and good luck!
Well in terms of Ohio pizza this place is pretty solid in comparison to Chicago pizza. They are a little limited in terms of types of pizzas and toppins but it was pretty dang good. The service was great and they were packed. The pickup line was almost to the back door. I tried some kickin bourbon wings and the sauce was really good. The wings themselves i wish were crispier, but they were good. We also had the antipasta salad which we really enjoyed. We actually wished we would have gotten the salad for 2 instead of 1. I tried the monster sub which is an italian sub with a chopped up meatball on it and it was pretty tasty. Gave them some "straight from Chicago" ideas for pizza for the new building, so looking forward to the big move and hopefully an expanded menu! Thanks a lot guys, can't wait to visit again! Edit: forgot to add, the breadsticks were amazing. They weren't the hard kind, they were...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Shade in Canal Winchester because I desperately wanted buffalo dip. When we got there, it was absolute chaos. There was no where for us to be and the wait was getting close to an hour. My wife said we should leave because things were getting more hectic by the second. She suggested we go to Little Italy because she'd been a couple times and loved it. I was hangry and upset I wasn't getting my buffalo dip.
My mood worsened when we arrived because there were people waiting outside. Checking in turned things toward the better. Even though Little Italy was busy because it was Saturday AND homecoming, the staff looked like they were used to it. There was enough space for everyone to wait and the hostess was super friendly. We didn't wait very long to be seated, so I was thrilled.
After sitting down, I opened the menu and scanned the appetizers. Lo and behold, buffalo dip was on the menu!!! I could have cried. I ordered it, the fettuccine el forno supreme, and an old fashioned.
The old fashioned was perfect. It looked and tasted great. One of the best I've ever had to be honest.
We got salads with out meals. It came out fresh and had crispy pepperonis that added a little crunch. I loved their italian dressing too.
The fettucine was insanely good. The fresh pasta makes all the difference in the world. The dish was baked with a bunch of cheese and a crushed meatball. Just wow. I usually don't get pasta dishes with marinara sauce at restaurants. I feel like it's risky because sometimes they just don't taste right. I'm glad I went for it. No regrets.
Last but not least, the buffalo dip. I don't think I'll be going to Shade for it ever again. It came out in a small cast iron pan piping hot and had crispy baguette pieces to dip in it. It was creamy and cheesy and absolute perfection. The best I've ever had.
I wanted to thank the staff for being on top of everything and for being so friendly and kind. It was a fantastic experience, and I can't wait...
Read moreHO–LEE–KOW ! ! when I was growing up, Groveport didn't have NUTHIN' like This ! "Lil' Italy" is the Precise Reason I take "The Road Less Traveled."
Having never been here, and discovering it by accident, as usual, I was hesitant to try the Grilled Chicken Alfredo as I have been sadly disappointed too many times. Would it live up to how grandma used to make it? The tension rose with each passing minute.
The breadsticks arrived first, as requested, with marinara sauce. If Heaven Has Bread, I Have Found Its Source.! As a matter of fact... they should re-name it as, "The Bread of Heaven."
Soft as cookie dough and perfect in taste and texture, I was satisfied enough to call it a night right then... but the Grilled Chicken Alfredo arrived just as the final bite was taken. It was time for the main event.
Ladies and Gentlemen... once again... I Had NO Reason To Worry!!
Their in–house, home made noodles were thick, hearty, and definitely needed the "noodle spoon" that accompanied the dish. When I saw that spoon, I Knew grandma would be proud.
Jewel Tomatoes top the dish, in which I had little interest since I don't like tomatoes. However, since everything had exceeded my expectations so far, I thought I'd give it a shot.
Again . . . HO–LEE–KOW. I think Jewel Tomatoes are now my favorite garnish. They blended so well with the seasoning they were nearly indistinguishable. Their cool sweetness was a delightful addition and allowed each bite, as is said in the realm of wine, to "finish well."
Pasta Paradiso. My compliments to the chef.
If you find yourself in the rural suburb known as Groveport, Ohio, you simply must stop in for the closest trip to Italy available in what history calls, "The Northwest Territory of the...
