UPDATE...11/18/23: I have to drop my rating from a 5 to a 3. I went in to have breakfast and there was hair in the middle of my omelet. The manager on duty was nonchalant about it and asked if I wanted them to make me another one. There were no hair nets in the kitchen. I declined the remake. An online survey was completed based on the in store interaction, I can say we received a call from their higher headquarters within two hours which was a shock especially for a Saturday. The customer service from that end was great. Unfortunately, the level of customer service in the store was not the same so I will not be returning. *************** 11/10/23: I ordered breakfast online, the meal was ready at the time it was projected to be ready. This was my first interaction with this location, and in the past, when I visited this chain, it was for their German Chocolate Cake. I was sleeping on the breakfast. I ordered the veggie breakfast bowl and added mushrooms. The portion size was huge for me, but I will finish it up tomorrow. I typically do not like my food mixed together, but the combination of elements used in this dish paired well together. I also ordered the French Toast with fruit and bacon. I did not get a picture of that dish, but the entire meal was consumed by the intended recipient without any negative feedback, so I will call that a success. Based on my experience today, I would definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Finally made it in to try Edgar’s newest location in town. Let me start by saying, I’m a fan of the brand. Their Providence location is by far my favorite. This spot is a nice option though as it’s more convenient to where I live/work. This area is still very much under construction, so parking was a little awkward. I ended up circling and parking in a lot behind the building. The store is obviously brand new. It was incredibly clean. It was also freezing cold. I enjoy air conditioning as much as the next person, but opted to sit outside and deal with the heat over freezing. It felt smaller than I had expected and didn’t seem to have the amount of seating as the others around town. It also seems like their were fewer bakery items than I’m used to seeing. The bakery items, to me, are the star of the show. I opted for a loaded breakfast bowl. I had never tried it, but I am a fan of their cheese grits and it did not disappoint. They were out of regular coffee, which isn’t a huge deal. I waited for a fresh batch. Overall, they just felt off their game, which I attribute to just recently opening. I have no doubt they will get it dialed in and will definitely come back.

I was really hoping for more. I rarely stop somewhere to pick up a dessert. Almost never actually. The parking is off a bit and their sidewalk to get into the store is poorly accommodating. You have to walk through the grass or walk to the front of the building. Everyone walked in the grass. I got a piece of chocolate cake from the shelf and was presented with an opportunity to tip the cashier for ringing me out. The cake was dry and flavorless. The only flavor I got from icing was a sugar taste. It was not terribly expensive at $4.50 a slice but I think I'll pass next time. Maybe the food is better because there were a lot of customers sitting but I figured they excel with cake being a bakery.

I recently ordered a strawberry cake from Edgar's, and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the cake online, and their mobile system was incredibly easy to use. I was able to select the day and time for pickup. They also offered anything else I may need like a cake cutter, but it wasn't intrusive.

The cake was ready when I came to pick it up, and I was in and out in just a couple of minutes. The person who assisted me made sure the writing on top of the cake was correct, and did a great job boxing the cake.

The store was clean, and they had quite a few options for baked items you could just walk in and buy. It was also easy to park right in front of the store.

A few days after I picked up the cake a gentleman called to make sure I had a good experience.

Honestly, this experience felt a little bit like I was in a time machine. When was the last time a business made everything easy for their customers and cared enough to follow up afterwards?

I would highly recommend Edgar's to anyone looking for a cake for a special occasion. They aren't cheap, but the value is...
