My coworkers and I went to Kristos for drinks after work. We called ahead and let them know to expect us and to have seats ready for us in the patio area. Each person was paying separately.
I told the waitress that I was only staying for a couple drinks and that I would like to place a to-go order at the end of my visit. She said that was fine. I ordered two beers and later on placed my to-go order.
The waitress gave me my check when my food came out of the kitchen, and I noticed that she had billed me for 3 drinks instead of 2. I let her know that there was an extra beer on my tab and asked if she could please remove the extra drink and charge my card. I didn't want my food to get cold. She brought me the receipt for me to sign which had the lower price total. I signed it, tipped her, and left my party there to head home and eat dinner.
I checked my credit card statement. There were 3 charges from Kristos. One charge for the lower amount, one credit for the lower amount, and one charge for the higher amount (with the additional drink that I did not order or drink.) The waitress charged me the HIGHER amount (even though I informed her my bill was incorrect) and then gave me the receipt to sign for the LOWER amount (which was later credited). Whether this was intentional or just a triple mistake on her part, who can say?
Needless to say I won't go to Kristos again. Get better food and service at Keifer's downtown! If you don't want to leave Madison, go down the street...
Read moreI had been waiting to try this place for a while, I was very disappointed. I was sat right away upon entering. A waitress came over right away and asked about an appetizer, I ordered the Greek meatballs, they were not good. I ate one and was waiting for her to come back to the table so I could ask that they be exchanged and place my dinner order. She never came back, I waited for 15 minutes and starting looking around, the owner (I assume) asked me if she could help me. I asked where my waitress was, she said Ill send her out. Waited another 5 minutes, and she finally appeared. I sent back the meatballs, and ordered the mozzarella pita it was good. Placed my order for a gyro and another team member brought it out to me. It was not very good at all. Another 10-15 minutes goes by and no visit from my waitress again. I was waiting for the check, I got up and went to the register and asked the owner, if my waitress was part of the kitchen crew? She said, no she's just really busy with outside tables. Well why the heck would you give her 1 table inside and the rest outside? Clearly, you should have asked the waitress next to me with 2 tables to lend a hand. Very unimpressed and I will not be back. This situation could have been remedied very easily, no effort was put forth to do that. Not an...
Read moreKristos was a recommendation from a local friend as we were looking for something yummy and fairly quick while headed home. The meal and service were top notch. The young woman serving us could not have been more kind and frankly, she made our day with her enthusiasm for a couple a tired road warriors eat lunch at 2:30 in the afternoon.
My chicken gyro was near perfect. I would have preferred the meat be a little more tender, but would certainly order it again. The fries was incredible but do recommend they cook them more as we noticed they were soggy/undercooked when we got to the bottom of the basket. Easily shareable too!
I may try the shrimp tacos next time.
I look forward to getting back. The parking lots was wide open, but poorly designed - as if they may be trying out how to best coordinate parking for the various businesses in the area and plenty of space for cars.
Heads up: if Christian Bible verses or quotes turn you off, this may not be your place. Honestly it was refreshing to us and the service we received backed it up. Likely comes with the territory for...
