Very disappointed in the Laredos today. I had visited this location many many times and have always had a good experience. Sometimes I eat in sometimes I take it to go. I went there with a friend today for lunch and I was disappointed. For some reason my chimichanga did not taste quite the way it should have in the way it has in the past. It just seems like the person who cooked it didn't do a very good job with it but it was okay it was edible but just not as I have had in the past. The more disappointing experience was the margarita. I've had Margaritas from there often and I have the regular margarita on the rocks but this one just tasted bad. It tasted like a weak drink of some type. Not even a cocktai,l I couldn't taste any alcohol in it, it was orange tinted I thought by mistake that they had given me either a peach or mango flavored but it didn't taste like either of those either. So I called the waitress over and just told her it didn't taste right and she's explaining me that it was a regular margarita but that they put a hint of fanta in it because people complain about the green??? I have never ever heard of anybody complain about the color of a lime Margarita! ever and I'm in my 50s! So I don't know when they started that practice all I know is when I had Margaritas there in the past they were not orange and I would not go there again based on that experience at least I would not dine-in because when I dine dying in, I do want a margarita. I would consider having take out like I do sometimes but I would never dine it again there as long as they have their Margaritas that taste the way they do. It didn't even taste like a lime Margarita at all-- it tasted horrible I could not finish it, I took two or three sips and gave it back to her and got something else instead. Bad, stupid idea Laredo's! Make regular Margaritas for people! Make them the way they are supposed to be made! If people don't like them they can just order something else but I expect the regular real lime Margarita the way it's supposed to be! And the fact that she told me they make them up ahead of time is also kind of disturbing. Why can't they just make a regular Margarita the way it supposed to be made?? Laredo's is a Mexican restaurant, if they are going to serve Margaritas then serve them and make them the right way!
Okay so for some reason my most recent laredo's visit was not captured but I was there again the other day and I just wanted to make another comment. They've got to do a better job in terms of take out. I don't think anyone when they have a takeout order should ever have to ask for napkins and silverware. My got my order the other day I forgot to specifically ask them if silverware was in the bag and of course when I got where I was going there was none. I don't know if we assume people are going home or they're going somewhere with a has silverware but that's not the case always. So that was very annoying and it's happened to me before which is why I learned it to ask but I have other things on my mind and forgot and I shouldn't have to you. So if someone from laredo's that does happen to read this you need to make sure that napkins and silverware are going inside every...
Read moreOK, we're from the deep south and enjoy flavorful food. The food that smacks you in the mouth at the first bite telling you how good it is and continues until the last bite with the same message. This great place has the best authentic Mexican food in the state so far. We've been let down, disappointed soooo many times in Wisconsin when it comes to food flavors and experience - LAREDO'S WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. It has gotten to the point that you hesitate trying a new place because of the staff, food, or experience in general. Laredo's was positive from doorway entry to exit. The host staff, courteous and quick. The entry was clean, even at the door window and wall edges - no buildup. The seating was promot, even with the busy Saturday night crowd. The waiter was fast, friendly, efficient and attentive without being annoying or intrusive. The salsa, ohhhh, that's some goooood salsa. Make sure you get two, because you're going to want to drink that stuff. The menu was very well rounded and lower priced than you'd expect. Food order was placed quickly and came out without delay. You know, the kind of delay that says your food has been sitting for five minutes on the station before you get it. We had no delay, so that means the wait staff is attentive even when busy AND the kitchen staff times the different components well. Our drinks were not let empty and the margaritas were good. Colorful rim salt, nice touch. The desert, shoot, just come here for that too. You can tell a lot about a place by the tortilla quality. These were very good, didn't tear easily, held the juice without sogging, and had good texture and flavor. Some places are bland or they break. These were good. The payment was no issue, didn't have to wait forever. You come to a place like this, you're going to want to tip more because the waiters really do that good of a job. They are not like all the others and do not deserve the same tip. They earn a bigger tip, they make it all come together for a great experience. We went to several different places that evening and got bad vibes. Even a highly rated one at a nice mall. The people were rude and indifferent, the hostesses were indifferent and behaved entitled. That's bad, we went to Laredo's and had great a great dining experience. The staff are courteous and not because they have to, you can tell it's because they want to. This makes happy and frequent repeat customers. I know we are going back. I can say that Laredo's has given us some much needed faith in Madison dining. If you want to know how good real Mexican food is without going down south or to Mexico, go to Laredo's, the Embassy of...
Read moreThe food was good but the service was bad. There were multiple issues. 1. I've been to all the Laredos in Madison many times and never have been told we'd have to pay for more salsa. 2. Our server messed up my order and my son's. I had ordered the veggie fajitas, he brought chicken. He had four other entrees with him. Three of them were customized enchiladas norteñas. They didn't know whose was whose so they had to use the forks to open them to see what was inside. The server didn't have one of my son's food. When we asked about it, he said there were 4 orders of enchiladas norteñas. We told him that was true but we only had 3 so far. He told me it would be 20 minutes for our food. 3.When he brought my food, he told me my meal would be on him because it was his mistake. I said ok. I thought that was fair. He did not have my son's meal still. 4. My son's food finally came out but it was wrong. 5. We sat without water for much of our meal. 6. My son finally got his meal when we were pretty much done eating. 7. When our server brought me the check, it still had chicken fajitas on it which I never ordered. I reminded him that he said he wasn't going to have me pay for my meal. He brought the updated check with all 6 meals on it. I asked him about that. He said my meal was too expensive to take off. Instead he decided to take off a drink. I won't be going to this location again for a while. I wanted a nice meal with my family. We...
