I ate at Little Tibet for the first time last week and was very disappointed. If you want Himalayan type food, go and check out Himal Chuli on State Street. Better food and better prices!
First, the food at Little Tibet is pricey for the portion size of the dish. I ordered the chicken curry which is described as having a "thick sauce". Far from it! The sauce is more watery than thick and the dish is served on a large plate to make the portion seem bigger than it actually is. I also ordered the roti and poppadom on the side. Both were priced at two dollars yet you only get one of each. I thought I would get more of each side (four of each seems appropriate). To complete the meal, I ordered the veggie momo. It was decent but not amazing. Definitely overpriced and there is a two dollar charge to have the momo's pan fried as opposed to steamed. Every place I have been to gives you a fired or steam option for free! All of our food (in a party of five) came out at separate intervals. When I go to eat at a restaurant, I always expect the food to come out at the same time. The waitress we had was very polite and came over to wait on us right away. Once the order was in, it did not take too long for the food to come out (albeit in separate intervals). To sum up, I cannot write that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is a shame because I was looking forward to trying a new restaurant. Unfortunately, Little Tibet is over priced...
Read moreThis place absolutely deserves one of my rare 5-star review. I enjoyed basically everything about my experience here and I'm so impressed they can pull off such awesome food with such a small kitchen.
I went with a small group of people. The restaurant itself is small (I don't recommend taking more than a group of maybe 6, they don't have a ton of space) and cozy. The lighting is darker and they have a lot of very neat decor. The waitress was super helpful with helping explain dishes, providing recommendations, and generally attentive to the table.
The food was spectacular. I got to try several things and I loved them all. I had the beef Shaptrak; it was so full of flavor and generally amazing. The chicken cheese momo were so good; I wanted to eat my body weight in those. The best thing I tasted was soup from the Bhutanese Ema Datshi Momo soup dish. I literally had to resist asking if I could purchase quarts of that soup to take home.
I will absolutely be returning to this restaurant very soon and recommending it to basically everyone I know. You should absolutely go eat here. I am so sad it has taken so long for me to eat at...
Read moreI have been ordering from this place for a long time. I have been a fan of their steamed momo. I feel it's a little pricey(7 pieces for $9 for regular steamed chicken momo), but I was content with the quality. However, I ordered jhol momo yesterday but instead of rich thick soup (which is what jhol momos are supposed to be served with), it seems all that was done is add lotta water to the small amount of dipping sauce. I was greatly disappointed and so were my friends. It was just too diluted and bland in taste, It's sad to say could not finish their momo. PS. I am an avid momo lover. Coming from Nepal, trust me when I say any momo was bad, it's really bad!!
I never dined in. So, I can't say for the indoor atmosphere.
I wish there are more options for momo in Madison.
Edit: As I could not find any option to reply to your comment, I am writing my reply here. I would have appreciated it if you just said that you would take the customers' suggestion to improve. That's what customer service should be. I DO NOT want a refund. Let me just say this is how you lose customer loyalty. Also "Best momos in US"? Come on that’s...
