MEXLI Mexican Breakfast — Restaurant in Madison

Me, my wife and daughter came to eat here because we’ve heard great things about the restaurant and wanted to support a local Hispanic restaurant, but unfortunately when we walked in the place was empty. A lady came out from the back and looked confused on why we were there. (They were open) we quickly realized that it was just a sit down where you would like type of place so we did just that

We looked through the menu and I quickly noticed they don’t serve rice which is very odd because beans and rice go very hand to hand when eating at a Mexican restaurant. Anyways we got our things, I (the husband) got tacos Dorado and the flavor did not exist. It was very bland and there were more toppings than anything. The tacos were the size of my fingers (no exaggeration) for $16 and mind you it came with no sides. My wife got chipotle chilaquiles and the portion size was huge (no complaints about that) however it lacked flavor. The eggs came out like an omelette, if you know chilaquiles the eggs are supposed to come sunny side so it made absolutely no sense when we saw the eggs the way they were. Finally for my babies plate she got a quesadilla with potatoes and beans. Her plate was the same size as our plate and had a generous amount of beans and potatoes, more beans than the side of beans that I ordered which cost an additional $4

I could go on and on but it is coming out to be longer than expected. I NEVER write reviews for places but this was such a disappointment that me and my wife felt like something needed to be said. The place is beautiful inside and has a lot of potential. I hope they can make the right adjustments to make this place what it truly should be otherwise I don’t see it being here...

Metztli: An Exceptional Spot for Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Madison

If you're craving authentic Mexican food in Madison, Metztli is a must-visit. From the green chilaquiles, which are hands down the best we've had in the city and surrounding areas, to the chicharrón tacos, which are absolutely delicious and made us promise to come back many times just to enjoy them again.

The enchiladas mineras are also fantastic, and the café de olla is simply amazing, perfect to complement any dish. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations.

Beyond the food, the ambiance of the place is relaxed and inviting, ideal for enjoying a peaceful meal. The parking space is spacious, which is a nice bonus in this area. But what really elevates the experience is the service: the staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to make recommendations from the menu, making the visit even more enjoyable.
