I got an email to checkout online to make the process go quicker and smoother. Okay, perfect. I stated we would be checking out at 9:45 am as our rides were scheduled to pick us up at 9:40 prompt. At 9:15, roughly, someone knocked on our door (did not announce “housekeeping” or any other member of staff) and then we heard a beep as if this person used a key, and low and behold, OUR DOOR OPENED!!! HOW DOES A RANDOM PERSON HAVE A KEY THAT CAN OPEN OUR ROOM?!?! He apologized “oh, sorry” chuckled and left. My friend looked at me and said that it wasn’t an employee. He went to the door, looked out the hallway, and the man did it to ANOTHER ROOM!!! Mind you, CHECK OUT IS NOT EVEN UNTIL 11am ANYWAY!!! Check IN isn’t until like, 3PM!!! HOW CAN SOMEONE HAVE ACCESS TO OUR ROOM THAT WE WERE NOT EVEN SCHEDULED TO BE OUT OF UNTIL 9:45 AT THE ABSOLUTE EARILEST, AND WOULD STILL NEED TO BE TURNED OVER BEFORE OCCUPANCY?!?! Thank God we were in our room (and able/willing to defend ourselves if need be), but, now I’m extremely concerned, because we left last night and left our valuables in the room, and people had been “checking” doors all night, to the point we couldn’t even sleep, unsure if they could or would get in!!! Come to find out, anybody can get master keys to get into the rooms!!!||Room was filthy, holes in curtains, no ice bucket, one washcloth, one hand towel, when we asked housekeeping for another SET of towels, we got two more body towels. No bath mat, walls were DISGUSTING with ADULT sized handprints on them at bent over level…yes, come to your own conclusion. Huge clump of female length hair smeared on the inside of the shower wall, shampoo bottle had “BODI WASH” written on it in permanent marker, whole hotel was hot, humid and smelled of urine, someone kept trying to open our door several times in the middle of the night both nights, our bathroom smelled like drugs (not marijuana) the morning of the 28th when we were going to leave, I got so sick from the overwhelming smell. Carpet had not been vacuumed in who knows how long based on the garbage on it and mysterious white stains…ick. Chunks of wall missing in bathroom and again, dirty walls, afraid to touch anything in here. Water in shower was perfect temp turned all the way on. But when I was in for maybe 2 minutes, it would suddenly turn scalding hot as if someone flushed the toilet, then freezing cold, then normal, again. It would do this maybe 6-7 times in a 10 minute shower!!! The room smells like unwashed rear end, it was just an awful stay all around. The last time was a lot better and a lot nicer, aside from not shutting down the pool when someone’s child pooped in it. Unfortunately, many events in town, and this was the only place left with reasonable vacancy. We just figured we would forego the pool/hot tub area this time around. Won’t be making the mistake of staying here ever again, even if it means needing to stay in an entirely different city than the event we are attending. Read moreI avoid giving businesses a one star rating unless something really atrocious happens. This hotel went above and beyond to earn this one star rating. I have edited my initial review to better reflect the horrific experience we had here
This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Checked in for five nights; on check in our room door was broken and there was no bedding for the pullout bed that was for our child. Front desk told us that the door would be fixed first thing in the morning, and that bedding would be provided for our child. Bedding was delivered, but was just a top and bottom sheet: no pillow or pillowcase, and no blanket. We called the front desk again and were told that there were no blankets or pillows available at the moment, but they would be delivered the next day from housekeeping. Putting aside the ludicrous notion that a hotel had no blankets or pillows available, we took them at their word.
Next day we arrived back at the hotel in the afternoon. Door still broken, and still no blanket or pillow for our child. Again called the front desk, who apologized and indicated that the door would be repaired immediately, and the blanket and pillow would be delivered immediately. Well, we waited over 95 minutes, and nothing happened. On leaving for the evening, we stopped at the front desk. Nobody was there and we waited twenty minutes before one of the staff promised to look at our door and see to the blanket.
On arriving back at the hotel, we were not surprised to find the room door still broken, and that no blanket or pillow had been delivered. By now we had had enough; My wife went down to (again) talk to the front desk. The clerk was so rude and abusive to my wife that she was in tears. The front desk clerk told my wife "What do you expect from a three star hotel?", and then she told my wife that we should have brought our own blankets and pillows for our child. Yes, she said that we should have brought our own blankets and pillows: TO A HOTEL!!!
That was it for us. We checked out the next day and found another hotel; the rest of our vacation was wonderful. To answer the Baymont Inn & Suites front desk clerk's question: "What do you expect from a three star hotel?"... A lot more than this. At a minimum a blanket for our child and a secure room.
This was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. To rub salt in our wounds, we noticed by the checkout two awards given to the hotel by Wyndham for "Best of Wyndham 2021" and "Best of Wyndham 2022". Not sure if these were actually awarded by Wyndham or just purchased from Amazon by the hotel to fool their customers - but if this it the "Best of Wyndham" then we will not ever stay in a Wyndham resort or...
