I've been to Mickey's Tavern a few times before, but this experience bothered me to the point that I needed to post something. Me and some friends from out of town went to Mickey's to hang out for a couple hours. We sat in that room linking the bar to the pool table area. Our server's performance was definitely not up to par, snapping at my one friend for asking for a glass of water 'its self serve, I don't get that for you, but I'll bring you a pitcher when I can.' She ignored us every time we passed, which was often as we were in a highly trafficked area. Everything else about the dining experience was good, but our server was severely lacking courtesy.
After we had left, I realized I had left my cellphone. So I went back in and retrieved it. At this point, the server cornered me and very aggressively confronted me asking 'Were you guys trying to stiff me on a tip? You barely gave me anything.' So, I gave her a $20 and asked for $15 back. She didn't earn that additional $5, it was more like a pity $5. When she returned with my change she started with some message stating 'and you can tell your friends--' but I snatched my change out of her hand and stormed out the door.
I'm usually a generous tipper, even tipping as much as 30% sometimes. I don't want it to seem like I do something like this often. Our server did not do a good job and I tipped her accordingly, and apparently my friends didn't want to tip her at all. But just because you get the opportunity to confront a patron, especially the one who gave you what little tip you received, that's just a bad way of doing business. I never had a good reason to go to Mickey's in the past, I have a better one for not...
Read moreAmazing service. Very impressed with food. I am in Madison on business and figured I'd try somewhere new. Food was amazing. Bacon on my burger was a thicker cut and had amazing taste. Well worth the extra money. Service is awesome. I finished my drink, and within a minute of putting down the drink menu a bartender asked if I'd like another. While she was making my next drink at least 2 other bartenders asked if I wanted another drink. Cannot believe the service. Amazing experience, and I am sure I will be back again when I'm down here for business in the coming weeks. Thank you!
*Edit to review. It may have been a Tuesday, but you need to get a new music set. A.S.A.P. it was literally so bad I covered my ears and did not want to remove them. I am all about allowing people to try their talent out and trying something new. But that was awful. Everyone was covering their ears. Including their bartenders. Music was the worst of my experience. It made me chug my drink and head straight for the door. I saw another person leave the room because it got so bad. That's just unacceptable. I get you're letting then do their thing. But there is a point between allowing the acts go on and protecting your customers hearing. I am docking a star due to the music at night. Everything besides the music...
Read moreThe tall female bartender was absolutely rude. The place was packed, my boyfriend and I pulled up the only last chair at the bar. We asked for a menu and the bartender rudely told us we couldn’t order food since my boyfriend was standing but could order drinks. Ok, so we ordered drinks but still wanted to look at a menu. She again rudely told us no. I don’t understand the rudeness coming from her, we understand the rules, just wanted to look at the menu to know what to order when another seat came open. My boyfriend bring the good guy he is asked since I was seated at least I could order and eat. He’ll wait. This set her off more. Again more rudeness and she grabbed a menu and literally threw it at me. At that point I was not going to stay and eat. I sat and waited for boyfriend to finish his drink and then I overheard the bartender tell the other bartender to take over “the lady with a scowl on her face” meaning me. Yes, at this point I was upset. We were nothing but polite, came in smiling having a good morning...
