I think this store is a good start to reducing our consumption and waste patterns. The staff was very friendly and welcoming! I am happy this store is a palm-oil-free and carbon neutral store; however, I am pretty disappointed to find very few local products, so I am concerned about the energy and packaging associated with the transportation and distribution of the products. The store DOES use their packaging from shipment to wrap some of the products for customers; however, I also was surprised the store offered us a new bag to carry our purchased items conveniently to our home. While the bags were paper, I don't think using (presumably) a tree is necessary. The products are very expensive and the store is definitely tailored to a specific middle to upper-class privileged audience. What is now called "sustainability" is very difficult in a capitalistic society! I would like to see more accessibility and inclusivity. Read moreI'm new on my journey to reduce waste and was excited to find out we have a refill store here in Madison! I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in but the store employee was helpful and understanding that the process was new for me. I picked out a few things I needed around the house and a few personal care thing to see if id like them. Shopping this way means you can buy small amounts to sample what you'd like. I got the toilet bombs hand soap, laundry powder and makeup remover. 10/10 for all products. I can't wait to come back to try more products but also for more inspiration on how to live low waste. So glad we have this store :)
