The restaurant is in a residential area. A nice change from the norm. We walked in and right away were blasted with AC. It was COLD on a rainy 60 degree day. Weird. Anyways, just a warning, you may want to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket. The diner is a little smaller than most but it has a nice comfy feeling.
After being seated, I saw the plate the lady next to us was eating - blueberry pancake with blueberries covering the pancake. That looked yummy, so I ordered the same. Over 25 minutes later, our food still had not been brought to our table. I had to ask our waitress where our food was. It was delivered 5 minutes later. The waitress apologized and said she entered the order late. She later gave us a discount for the error which was much appreciated. We are human after all which means we all will make mistakes. I appreciated that she told us what happened. It would have been nicer to know a little earlier.
Back to the blueberry pancake. When the food arrived, my pancake had no blueberries on top. Oh well, I’m just chalking it up to not having been to this restaurant before. I also ordered turkey sausage and one egg. The turkey sausage was ok, it had an interesting spice but overall not too bad. My partner ordered 2 eggs over easy with his meal and one egg came out over hard while the other was over medium.
The strawberry jam came in a tiny canning jar that was already on the table. The thing we were wondering was if people lick their knives and then dip it into the am jar, do they replace the jam jars in between guests? We found the answer to be no - the jars are not necessarily replaced with a new one when the next guests sit at the table. I’m not saying that people lick their knives... but it was a curious thing we saw.
Overall, the visit could have gone better. We will decide later...
Read moreThis is an updated review after having gone to this place for a while: This is probably the best breakfast place in town. The food is always consistantly amazing, they have the best coffee I've ever tasted, and the staff are spectacular. For the food, they have a selection of omlets and scrambles, as well as french toast and pancakes, and a daily quiche. They also have a selection of sandwiches and fresh made pie. I haven't personally touched the lunch menu, mainly because I'm too taken in by the breakfast options. Everything I have ordered from here has been beyond good. The coffee is from Colectivo. I forget the exact roast, but it's amazing without cream and sugar, while adding one or both of those just turns it into perfection. Which tells me they have excellent taste in roast, and definitely know how to brew it. As I said earlier, the staff is friendly and amazing. They joke with you, are willing to converse if they aren't busy, and are attentive enough to make you feel super welcome. It's like having breakfast with a group of friends (who you pay afterward, but still). I cannot say enough good things about this place. I only have three gripes. It's WAY to busy on the weekends. And, finally, the bell. Please, oh please, oh PLEASE replace the hotel concierge bell with something less painful to hear. It gives my breakfast partner and I headaches whenever we visit.
15/5. Do yourself a favor and give Ogden's a visit. You will not regret it.
EDIT: This review used to say they cooked all their food in canola oil. As can be seen below, this is not the case. I...
Read moreHave always had great experiences in the past but today the hostess was so unbelievably rude that I’ll never be back. My friend and I tried to move over one table because the sun was shining right in our eyes. The hostess told us in a very condescending voice that we couldn’t do that because we would be moving to a different section and that table was reserved blah blah blah. I asked what she would recommend for the sun issue she said “umm….sunglasses.” I asked to speak to someone else and she kept saying rude comments. The other person eventually got called over and said we could wait for the next available table. There were two other available tables that we weren’t allowed to use when we asked. When we said we would never be able to come there after this, she said “um…yeah….that’s best for everyone.”
I have no idea why anyone would think that that type of behavior would be acceptable, especially in a service-industry small business. My five year old knows better.
Terrible customer service. Some of the most disrespectful I have ever experienced. Be careful going there because if you have any difficulties you will be treated very badly.
Hopefully, the owner will see this review and contact me to fix things. I would hate to stop going to Ogden’s but I’m not spending money at a place where I was...
