2nd southern cooking restaurant I’ve tried in beautiful Madison Georgia!
I travel all over Georgia for my job. I always look forward to trying new and locally owned places to dine.
Located just a couple blocks from the town square R & B’s is located in a quaint (former) house. The interior is clean, recently updated and is honestly lovely.
The food:
Nice selection of sides (entrees change daily) It would be nice to have more than a single selection of meats on any given day.
For $13 you get a meat, 2 sides, a biscuit or a roll, and a drink. Friday is pork chops day! I chose rice and gravy and pinto beans. I splurged and also got their fan favorite Mac n cheese.
The rice was cooked perfectly. Tasted like homemade brown gravy. Delicious. The pinto beans I highly recommend. Quite possibly the tastiest pinto beans I’ve ever had. The sole negative point about my lunch was, surprisingly, the Mac n cheese. It was dry to the point of almost being inedible. Seems like I received the last remnants from the pan.
They gave me two heaping chops. Fried to perfection. The batter was crispy and just salty enough to make me take a full gulp of tea!
As you can see the portions were plenty adequate. I probably could have taken some home for dinner!
The employees:
R & B’s was fully staffed. Welcoming and energetic.
I will definitely be going back to try other items. Baked Turkey wings on Sunday sounds delicious. And I have to try the black eyed peas and of course the mashed potatoes! More...
Read moreEverything was perfect, and better than perfect. Nothing was canned like some other BBQ places I've seen as an otr trucker everything was homemade and perfectly seasoned - just enough to taste the seasoning and still taste what's underneath. The sweet tea is clearly homemade and just as delicious and real as everything else was sweet enough to taste the sugar but not enough to over power the actual taste of the tea. The greens were perfect. Just smoked meat and greens that I could tell with nothing extra to ruin their simplicity and deliciousness. I'll make a point to order again anytime I can when I'm in the area for sure. It was also very thoughtful of them to put a sheet under the cornbread in transit so it didn't sop up anything I didn't want it to and an extra cup with ice and sweet tea on top of the gallon I'd ordered so now I've got a nice cup of ice having finished the cup of tea that I can refill with the...
Read moreThis is a casual place with real home-cooked southern food. The place was clean and had fresh farm-style decor. The food is cooked and ready where you order at the counter. There were enough tables for several people/ families to dine inside. There is also outdoor seating. I had fried chicken with collard greens and butter beans. My husband and son also had fried chicken but also had mac and cheese. The chicken was tasty, light, crispy, and not greasy. The sides were prefectly southern. We enjoyed this lunch stop on our road trip from Florida to the Georgia mountains. So happy to have found this family-owned business. We would definitely come back here if we are...
