Nestled in the heart of the city, Gyro Bliss is an absolute gem that transported my taste buds on an unforgettable journey to the Mediterranean. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enchanted by the inviting aroma of sizzling gyro meat and the warm, friendly atmosphere.
The menu at Gyro Bliss is a tantalizing tapestry of authentic Mediterranean flavors. As a gyro aficionado, I couldn't resist trying their signature dish, and boy, was I in for a treat! The traditional lamb gyro was a revelation of taste. The succulent, perfectly seasoned lamb was masterfully wrapped in a soft and fluffy pita bread, accompanied by a medley of fresh vegetables and the most divine tzatziki sauce. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, a harmonious dance of tender meat, crisp veggies, and creamy sauce that left me yearning for more.
Not to be outdone, Gyro Bliss caters to all palates with an impressive selection of alternatives. The chicken gyro, a mouthwatering delight of tender, marinated chicken, delighted my senses and provided a delightful twist on the classic gyro. For my vegetarian friends, the falafel gyro was an absolute winner, boasting crunchy falafel balls, tangy pickles, and a burst of freshness from the crisp lettuce and tomatoes.
The sides were equally impressive, and the hummus was a true standout. Creamy, smooth, and rich in flavor, it was the perfect companion to the freshly baked pita bread. The Greek salad was a refreshing medley of vibrant colors and tasted like a burst of sunshine on a plate.
What sets Gyro Bliss apart from other gyro joints is not only the delectable cuisine but also the exceptional service. The staff exuded warmth and passion, attentively guiding me through the menu and making sure my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. They were eager to share their knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine, making me feel like a welcomed guest in their culinary paradise.
And let's not forget the dessert! The baklava was a delightful ending to this gastronomic adventure. Layers of flaky pastry, crunchy nuts, and sweet honey syrup created a heavenly indulgence that left me with a contented smile.
In conclusion, Gyro Bliss is a treasure trove for gyro enthusiasts and anyone seeking an authentic taste of the Mediterranean. From the delectable dishes to the friendly staff, every aspect of this restaurant radiates passion and dedication. I can wholeheartedly recommend Gyro Bliss to food lovers and adventurous eaters alike. Whether you're a seasoned gyro connoisseur or new to Mediterranean cuisine, this delightful establishment promises an unforgettable culinary experience that will leave you yearning for more. Read moreAs someone who grew up on this food and painfully understands the need for food like this in Madison, I was elated to hear of this place opening! However, my family and I were pretty disappointed. Here’s why:
The food is majorly overpriced for very small portions of meat and no drool-worthy or exciting result. We ordered the gyro pita sandwich ($10.99 w/o fries or a drink), the shawarma pita sandwich, the shawarma pita wrap (both $10.99 also without fries or a drink) and the shawarma plate ($16.99 with no drink). A small bowl of fries will cost you an additional FIVE dollars. Photos of all the food we ordered are attached.
You barely get a chicken breast out of what you ordered. My husbands gyro sandwich was drowning in unseasoned lettuce, onion and tomato and a lacking yogurt sauce. The meat itself was very tasty but too little of it to enjoy. The pita bread was basic, akin to flatbread you’d buy at a store. The shawarma also isn’t authentic shawarma (cooked on the rotating machine you see in their logo!), it’s grilled and chopped breast which is very different than traditionally cooked shawarma. Madison still remains to see a place with authentic shawarma!
I also got the meze bowl: grape leaves, hummus and baba ganoush. The grape leaves taste the same as the ones I get from a can at Istanbul Market. The hummus didn’t have any olive oil or paprika on top (how it’s typically served) and tasted very bland. The baba ganoush WAS smoky and flavorful, which I appreciated!
And while it was their first week, they sold out by 1:30pm (and I think their hours were supposed to be until 11pm) so call ahead of time before making the drive if you are coming from further away.
They also didn’t have any high-chairs for my toddler to sit in.
All in all, I can’t say I’d be going again. The prices are too high and the quality just isn’t there. For the best gyros in Madison, Parthenon’s remains king and Petra holds the medal for shawarma and other middle eastern foods.
I do hope they’ll take this feedback and make changes! I truly do hope for them to be...
Read moreMy wife and I were trying to decide what to have for lunch while in Madison. I said "hey, there's a Mediterranean restaurant on Willy St". She said let's go there! We arrived to the Gateway Mall and parking was a breeze which is hard to find on Williamson St. They have a parking lot. We walked in to a very tastefully decorated space that was warm and inviting. We walked up to the counter and gazed at the menu that was very easy to read and not confusing. The gentleman at the register welcomed us and asked if we had any questions. I wanted to ask him if what his favorite menu item was because EVERYTHING sound delicious. We settled on the Chicken Sharma and Falafel plate. We also ordered a side of Tabule.
This restaurant is counter service so after gave our order we found a table. A few minutes later we were greeted with our appetizer. Shortly there after our food hit the table. 2 beautiful plates of Mediterranean deliciousness that were picture worthy.
The Falafel was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. The chicken was very well and was extraordinary. The proportions were well worth the price. The only problem is that it was so good that we ate everything so there wasn't any leftovers lol.
Please give this place a try if your in the area. You won't be...
