We had gone to OverRice "Filipino and Hawaiian Kitchen", couldn't find it on yelp, but the address was similar.
The inside of the restaurant was clean and simple. They had the island music playing, which always sets the mood and is inviting. When we went here, the place wasn't packed. We just saw people coming in to pick up phone orders.
The lady who took my order was nice. I was bummed they didn't have loco moco or the ube cassava, but we weren't leaving empty-handed. There isn't a lot of filipino or hawaiian restaurants in this area. If we found a hawaiian place, it was mostly poke.
We ordered:
Spam musubi - rice and spam was fresh. It was mostly rice than spam but was still good.
Lumpia shanghai - Crispy and flavorful. Not all wrapper. Sweet chili sauce has a kick.
Chicken Katsu, all rice - Chicken was nice and crispy. Katsu sauce was different than what we are used to, tasted more like a soy sauce/shoyu base, but was good.
Pork adobo filipino plate - Pork adobo was tender but didn't have a lot of sauce for the rice. Pancit was standard, didn't come with any lemon or calamansi. So it was kind of bland.
Sisig over rice and fried egg - Flavorful and the pork was crispy. Egg was perfectly cooked.
Mac salad - Tasty and well seasoned. I liked that they put furikake on top. I think there is potato mixed in. Something different but it was delicious.
Chocolate macadamia brownie - It was good, but it tasted like a brownie mix, and you just added macadamia nuts. Nothing special.
Overall, the food was good. Service was ok. I'd want to come back to try...
Read moreBeen wanting to try OverRice for a long time now so when I saw them at the kaya event I Immediately went to the line. During the event, the only thing they had at the menu was their “Platter” which consisted of Longanisa, rice, atchara, lumpia, adobo and ube dessert everything else was listed except for the price! It was probably my fault for not asking but I didn’t expect that they would charge $47 for a meal! I was also told that the meal is good for 2 people and online it says that it’s 2-3 person meal! Upon receiving the food due to the rain I did not get the chance to check if anything was missing and went straight home. Firstly, the longanisa was not there! Secondly, the food portion was not for 2 people( I eat tiny portion on a regular meal and still think their platter size is pretty small) On the advertisement they put 2 sausage and I recieve none! For $47 I expect more and now I have less than what was advertised! Had to wait an hour for the food too but didn’t mind it because it was an event and completely understood that they were busy but to pay almost $50 on that food was a...
Read moreLet me just say....OverRice absolutely delivers. From the moment I took that first bite, I knew I was in for something special. This place doesn’t just serve food, it serves flavor bombs that hit all the right notes.
Let’s talk about the Sisig. Oh man… it was everything I hoped for and more. Perfectly seasoned, with that crispy, sizzling texture that makes your mouth water before you even taste it. Each bite was rich, savory, and slightly tangy....just like a proper Sisig should be. Now, the Spam Musubi... The rice was soft and sticky without being mushy, the Spam was grilled just right..slightly caramelized on the edges and the nori wrapped everything up like a delicious gift. It’s one of those bites that’s simple on paper, but when done well, it just slaps. Sweet, salty, comforting, and satisfying in every way. If you're into bold flavors, comfort food with character, or just want to try something new that feels both familiar and exciting....OverRice is where you need to be. Filipino and Hawaiian flavors dancing on the same plate? Yes please.
Highly recommend. Come hungry....
