Just to be clear, Bryan, asking for payment is not the issue. The way you did it was inappropriate, and the late night petty response to this review just proves my point. This is not a punishment...it's a learning opportunity. As I said in my initial post, I hope this was a unique situation for both you and your customers.
Editing down to 1 Star. It's sad to see an insecure restaurant owner get rattled so easily after being exposed, but I guess I'm not surprised. The part I left out of my review was the racist comments the owner made about his staff. I asked him why they don't allow for customizations online and his response was "my kitchen staff doesn't speak English"...yet he has a custom burger option on his menu where. I remember when I picked up my food back at the counter after the owner went on his toddler tantrum and both he & his staff fired off asks in English to the kitchen staff 😅. Sad to see service industry establishments be so poor at actually offering service.
I think the best part about the owner's sad response was thinking that a phone call & text message in the current era of spam garbage justifies this kind of behavior. Idk if Bryan was just tired after a long shift of disappointing customers and couldn't see his order history, but we (used to) order weekly and it took him 2 months to decide he wanted squeeze a regular for $50 after HIS STAFF made a mistake. Very sad.
I had a (hopefully) unique and uncomfortable situation here and I don't think I'll be back.
Background: My wife & I would order from here easily 1-2x each week. Mystic Station will not let you customize their burgers when you order online. If you build the same burger as a custom burger, it costs 20% more.
What Happened: To avoid this, I called the restaurant and asked if I could swap Gouda for Cheddar on one of their burgers. It was a busy night and apparently the server forgot to ask for my card when I picked it up. I also forgot to offer it to them. I didn't think twice about it and continued to order there weekly for months....until the owner asked me to step into the back where he shamed me for not paying for an order 2+ months ago. He said that he took the bill out of the server's paycheck because of me, and proceeded to guilt me like my catholic mother and then finally asked me to pay for it.
I had no issue paying for my food, but the way he went about asking me was both unprofessional and weird. This $50 check cost them $5k/year in future orders....
Read moreThe waiter who welcomed my party was amazing. He got us water as we sat down. He took his time with making sure our order was correct. Some of the best customer I've experienced. We didn't know it was bingo night but he found us a card to follow along. The music was great.
The food however. The food ... The menu was basic bar food. Simple to read. Not many drink options so kinda just requested one I knew of. It was nasty. It was warm. Never received a long island iced tea warm until today. Back to the food.
Ordered mystic nachos, two types of chicken tenders, salad, and sweet potato fries.
The chicken tenders were cold and dry. So when we told our waiter he was great about it. He got the manager. Never should I have to go back and forth about the quality of over priced bar food. But I did. He said everything is cooked too order so he wasn't remaking fresh tenders. Which in my opinion if you cook to order why not fix it. He took it somewhere in the back bought it back with sauce on his hands like oh I temped it. The temp was 165. I told him I'll pay for the food I'm just not eating it. I shouldn't have to explain how I'm the customer and if it's not quality, I'm entitled to my opinion.
The sweet potato fries were fresh and lightly salted.
I didn't eat the salad but the person in my group did. It was good Cesar salad.
The mystic nachos were unseasoned and basic. The cheese wasn't enough. It was slapped together. I think for the price the quality should be there.
This place has potential if ran better.
Yes the chicken was refunded. The rude manager is why this is getting a bad review. Learn how to talk to people. Make all guest feel welcomed into your establishment.
*Edited to add y'all see what I mean. I was going to pay for the food. I didn't care about paying for the food. The owner is rude and can't take criticism. The owners response confirms it. I was not rude I stood on what I said. My opinion is my opinion. I was the customer and I can give my feedback. Technically you only had to refund one chicken because the other person in my party took a...
Read moreI came here by myself and had a wonderful time. The food taste really good and their drinks were excellent. I drove by this place all the time and always wanted to try it out. I’m glad I finally did. It was a fun spot to spend my Saturday. I grabbed a bite to eat because I was hungry and did some people watching. I very much enjoyed seeing the bartenders make all those cool drinks and shots and noticed the place had a mixed crowd. Joe the bartender is an excellent guy, really knows his way with those brews. The decorations were pretty cool and so was the restaurant in general. I felt very relaxed in there.
I browsed their holiday drink specials and they had recipes that were just too tempting to pass up. Eggnog martini? Who can say no to that? They had a lot of cool holiday stuff to try out. Made it hard to have just one drink when there were a lot that looked so good. They also took other requests if what you want is not on the menu. I started out with a burger, fries, and ginger ale before getting to the good stuff. It was just such an awesome way to spend my Saturday evening because everything was so good.
You can tell who the owners are because it’s owned by husband and wife and they are busy all over the place taking care of everybody. The owner always stays on top of crowd control and has excellent people skills. It can get busy, but not in an overcrowded bad way. Since I was alone it was easier for me to find a seat at the bar, but the people who showed up with company I saw waited only for a little while by the doors until they got seated. I saw a few others stand by the bar if they wanted a few drinks while they waited.
My initial goal was to go bar hoping, but since the environment was friendly, burgers and fries were tasty and enjoyed a few holiday drinks that I ended up staying almost 4 hours. It was longer than I planned, but the time flew by quickly. As a result, I was so full that I got tired and needed sleep. I didn’t have the strength to finish bar hoping so I’ll have to try again next time. That’s what happens when you are having...
