Do not eat at this establishment unless you like being disrespected and feel ridiculed for mistakes made by staff.
My girlfriend and I ate at Zuru Zuru at approximately 8:30 on 23 Feb 2023. My girlfriend ordered the miso chicken karage ramen. For those who don’t know, the miso ramen comes out with a separate dish of chicken karage. Before eating I noticed a hair sticking out one of the pieces of chicken (with bits of the hair fried as well, gross). We respectively pointed it out to one of the staff which he took back to the kitchen. Not 30 seconds pass before our server brings us plate of chicken karage. “Bringing” a new plate is a nice way to put it, what she really did was rudely slide it on our table, with an attitude. No apology, no explanation, nothing.
I think anyone would realize that a possibility is that they simply take it back and remove the hair that sticks out and then present the same food back to us. Based off the timing (30 seconds in and out) I couldn’t in good conscience, believe that this was a new plate of food, but rather “fixed” by removing. Remember when I said the hair sticking out had look like it had been fried? Who’s to say there isn’t more hair underneath the breaded exterior? Exactly. Gross.
But that’s not even the worst part, we ask to confirm with our server about our concerns whether or not this is a new plate of food, and this interaction was one of the worst interactions I’ve ever had with any restaurant staff. She looked at us as if WE WERE THE PROBLEM. And then when we asked if we could get an apology she replies with an attitude of “fine, I’ll take it off the bill so you won’t get charged”. And then looks at us and then says “you’re done” and then takes my bowl and my girlfriends ramen that she was still eating.
I’m not mad about the hair. Mistakes happen in the kitchen and you prepare a lot of meals to a lot of people. It’s the utter lack of respect and the response to an incident and the poor training of the staff so they approach the customers with an attitude that they are the one...
Read moreI felt so humiliated (and still do) by the unprofessional and rude service at this Zuru Zuru restaurant last night. It was really non-sense the way they treated me as if I wanted to steal their bowl of ramen which just cost $15.
I visited their restaurant, used their kiosk and placed a simple takeout order. I made payment using my credit card, took the receipt and decided to wait for my order outside the restaurant (Their restaurant was too crowded with people waiting in line for dine-in).
15 minutes later, I walked back in to check on my order. I handed them my receipt.
A few minutes later, they went out and screamed "Did you pay? You didn't pay, did you? We don't have your order". I was like, what "do you mean? It is recorded I paid on the receipt I handed you"
5 minutes later, they were like "do you have proof you paid?" Again, I told them It was on the receipt I gave them. I also had to log into my credit card's account, showed them the pending transaction.
When I placed the order, I also received a text. I clicked on the text to see the order status and there on the order's detail, it showed I PAID.
A few minutes later, they came out with my order and then the lady did all her police work, took pictures of my order, all proofs I showed her. She even asked to take my name and my phone number (which were asked at the time of my order from the kiosk).
This whole experience was really embarrassing. Everyone looked at me as an idiot trying to steal this restaurant food. I do not care how good food they make or how small business they are, but this type of rude service needs to be heard and it should be STOPPED. Your...
Read moreThe ramen experience is there when it comes to Zuru; the different types of art around the restaurant feels amazing, as they try to capture the Japanese theme all around. They have various art work posted around with amazing figures at the check out. The cat with one arm jacked & buffed was my favourite. Nonetheless, I got there late and my buddies ordered a fire chicken app topped with cabbage and a wasabi sauce that kicks a punch if you’re not ready for it. The chicken was nice and tender. So it was a good plate to start off with. We also had a green tea and it comes in an elegant pot. For the main course I got a spicy miso ramen Loaded! It was a great choice as I love to eat. Still think for a loaded plate there could have been more especially for paying almost $20 for the plate. Nonetheless the broth was delicious and I got it at a 2 for spicy out of 3. I think for a 2, it could have been a little more spicy but they have to cater to everyone’s taste buds for an average mild. The noodles were good, but I wish they could have been a little more thicker. My favourite was the pork! It was so tender that it break apart right when you open it. Let it sit in the broth and you’re winning. Overall great experience. And the best part which I didn’t get a picture of is the bathroom full of all anime stickers and posters especially One Piece for all us OP fans. You will need out like I did haha. I would definitely go again as they have a great menu...
