After swimming in the Spring River across the street, the only place to go to afterwards is Wood's Riverbend Restaurant. I love this restaurant. Anytime I am in Mammoth's Springs, I make it a point to eat here. Don't get me wrong, some of the side dishes could be better, but the vibe and the service is this restaurant's strong suit(and their catfish). I love being able to eat out on the patio and look out to the spring river, and what's better is that just below, there are some groundhogs that will sometimes pay you a visit if you feed them a fry or two! Being able to eat yummy food and experience nature at the same time is a great feature of Riverbend Restaurant. The staff is also incredibly kind and welcoming, even if they're new, which our waitress was. The food is also exactly what you expect. Home style food that you want to eat after spending a few hours swimming. Don't get me wrong, it's not the best meal you'll eat at a Michelin star restaurant or from a high end restaurant in Little Rock, but it's what you want to eat after being in freezing waters. Catfish, warm vegetables, and a roll. The catfish was phenomenal. The breading and the fish itself was so savory. I could tell that the mashed potatoes were instant mashed potatoes and not fresh potatoes, but I loved mashed potatoes, so I can't really complain. I did find out I definitely do not like fried squash. It tasted a little bland but also sweet at the same time, so it definitely was not my cup of tea. What IS, however, is fried okra, and man, they have the best fried...
Read moreI came into Riverbend a few weeks ago and was quickly reminded why I hadn’t been back sooner. My server, Katie, was very impolite and inattentive for most of our visit. When she did pay attention, it seemed to be directed more toward my husband than to both of us as guests. She also spent a lot of time on her phone instead of checking on our table. I had to ask another server just to get refills. My food was cold by the time it reached me, clearly having sat in the window for a while before someone else finally brought it over. I was never offered dessert, even though I would have liked to try some pie. The hamburger steak itself wasn’t bad, and the view of the river is actually very pretty — but unfortunately, the poor service made the whole experience...
Read moreThis place is an excellent stop in Arkansas on the way home for BBQ. My mother and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich basket. It was tender and delicious. I wish they had beef brisket too. We also got dessert and split a peanut butter pie and coffee. Our waitress seemed new and the pie came out looking like baby vomit as I think they heated the whip cream with the pie in the microwave. The presentation for the dessert was terrible which is why I took off a star, you shouldn’t serve that to people. The views of the river and atmosphere were great and it was very memorable. The servers took pictures of us and were friendly too. I would...
