Panera Bread — Restaurant in Manalapan Township

I am shocked that this Panera location has a four star rating. I have never dined in, I have only ordered takeout in store. However, every time I get home I am missing items of my order… Yes I understand I should check my order in store however they see other take-out bags and the manager signs off on the seal saying that all of the items are there for the order. It is extremely frustrating because I live in freehold and there is a Panera in freehold however this Manalapan location is a few minutes closer but the last four or five times that I have ordered takeout from this location in store mind you Three of those five times I got home and items were missing. That is extremely frustrating because now I am driving almost 30 minutes total just to pick up items for my order that are missing then I get home to eat a cold meal that I paid for. While the inside of this location seemed clean and tidy and the food is what I would expect from Panera the to go service is not top quality. I’m not sure if it is the fact that the manager is lazy and just sign still little sticker and seals the bag with our check in or if the young kids are just incompetent and cannot follow in order who knows but I will not be ordering takeout nor will lie down in at this location. I really enjoyed Panera Bread in the past... not anymore! First, I frequented the Manalapan store Friday, Mar 23rd St approximately 5pm. There was one cashier and one woman online. She ordered many individual pastries/muffins/breads/bagels and requested the bagel be sliced. My wife and I were 2nd on line behind this customer. The line grew to 5 people behind us. A male customer #4 in line, asked for a manager, he complained. The gentleman he spoke with said he was a manager, the man said service has gone down and he should putore cashier's at this time of day. The "manager" got defensive mumbling a few words under his breath and walked away. He did NOTHING to help the situation. Enough said about the horrendous service, on to the food. We ordered 2 Greek Salads, 1/2 sandwich and a mac-n-cheese. They Changed the Greek salad - FOR THE WORST! It was bland with a different recipe. The mac-n-cheese was "soupy" ad opposed to thick - YUCK! Besides, the prices are outrageous for NOTHING - GARBAGE! $33 FOR THIS -. CRAZY/INSANE. A total Rip-off. PREDICTION... Panera Bread will not be around as a viable franchise within a couple of years unless they get their act together - unlikely, as they like the profits. But not for long... This will not last... Extremely disappointed in this location recently. I’m not sure what changed: employees, management, Panera standards, etc. but Manalapan’s location has gone downhill exponentially in the past months. Service is quite slow and employees are not too friendly or attentive. Though certainly a problem, those two factors aren’t even my main concerns. The food quality is not consistent and to be frank, sloppy. On two separate occasions, my Soba Noodle Bowl has been without the noodles (yes, the noodles) and the broth. I felt embarrassed FOR them walking up to the counter requesting my order to be remade. Neither time were they apologetic, they just took my plate and remade it. Today, I ordered a full Asian Sesame Chicken Salad vía kiosk (also, no pagers in sight). Came to my table after about 10 minutes and there was a strand of hair right on top of the salad. Didn’t even take a bite and told the runner my concern and I didn’t receive an apology or any justification.
