I recently indulged in takeout from Sakura Sushi in Manalapan, and I must say, my taste buds were in for a treat. While the menu boasted an extensive selection of classic Japanese dishes, I couldn't resist indulging in a few staples. Here's the lowdown on what I ordered:

The chicken teriyaki was undoubtedly the highlight of the meal, with a perfect blend of savory and sweet flavors that left me wanting more. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

The katsudon, while tasty, wasn't quite as impressive as the teriyaki. The pork cutlet was cooked to perfection, but the dish lacked a certain depth of flavor that would have elevated it to the next level. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Moving on to the sushi, the Philly roll was decent, but nothing to write home about. The same can be said for the spicy tuna and salmon rolls, which were fresh but not exceptional. Each of these rolls garnered a 3.5 out of 5 stars from me.

Unfortunately, the kani salad was a bit of a letdown. While the dish had potential, the lack of masago and flavor left me feeling underwhelmed. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

The miso soup and house salad were both decent, but again, nothing to write home about. Each dish received a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

While the food was certainly enjoyable, I couldn't help but notice that it didn't seem as fresh as it could have been. Compared to other sushi places I've dined at, Sakura Sushi fell a bit short in this department.

All things considered, I'd give Sakura Sushi a respectable 3.5 out of 5 stars. While there were certainly highlights, the food as a whole didn't quite reach the level of excellence I...

The rudest store owner I’ve ever encountered. Called a few times and couldn’t get through and then after someone finally answered I was placed on a 15 min hold so I went there to place an order. Placed a small order for pick up for a couple of 6 piece rolls and the girl said it would be 30 mins. 2 hours later I am starving and still haven’t heard anything, so I called back to see what’s going on and to cancel my order and the girl puts the manager on and he interrupts me while I’m trying to tell him that I’m canceling the order and he continues to try to talk over me in a horrible tone, yelling the entire time and giving me a disgusting attitude and screams “do you want your damn order or not.” My response was “no, I’m literally calling to cancel the order and get my money back” LMAO. I have never had a business speak to me that way. That is absolutely disgusting and completely uncalled for. If thats how you speak to and treat your customers, then I sincerely hope you go out...

Amazing food and even better customer service. They take pride in their restaurant. I order from here 1-2 times a week. My 6 year old loves the spicy tune but always asks for no crunch and no seasame seed. They have never got the order wrong, even on a busy weekend. My husband and I order the manalapan roll and it is always delicious. Today I had an small issue with my order and called to let them know not expecting anything really. The owner went above and beyond to correct the issue and personally delivered the new order to my house within 10 minutes of the call. There are not many businesses anymore that understand customer service and this is one restaurant that will always have my business. Just amazing! Thank you guys for...

This is our favorite local sushi place. My son and husband enjoy most of the menu - chicken teriyaki bento box, Oga rolls and most of the other special rolls (the names of which escape me). I don't eat meat or raw fish, so I always order the veggie roll and spicy shrimp roll. These are my favorites. I recently tried the Boston shrimp roll. It was pretty good, and has a honey wasabi sauce on top. We are always satisfied after our meals (especially after having ordered miso soup and rock shrimp for appetizers). This is a small restaurant in Manalapan, but there is rarely a long wait for a table. Only one bthroom, but it is clean 😊 This place is BYOB, with very friendly staff!

I added shrimp and vegetables to my hibachi noodles. I asked to NOT have any mushrooms added. I got three curled up dried out farmed shrimp for the additional 3.00$. The vegetables were one slice of cooked red onion, some shredded lettuce, and more mushrooms than noodles. The (specialty) angel roll had some crunch to it. I like that. But unfortunately the crunch was the dried out, precooked beforehand, white rice. My kids like it there but their palates are not very sophisticated. It seems usually busy with mostly teenagers and very young adults. I recommend anyone who likes real Japanese food or fresh food in general, to leave this place to the them.
