Cook Out — Restaurant in Manassas Park

The customer service is not up to par. I was paying tonight(10/5 7:57pm) and there was a problem with my card and the cashier (Melanie) at the drive-thru, after handling my drink and finished food after I gave her my card, instead of speaking directly to me and looking at me murmured something so low and towards her screen that I thought she was speaking into her headset while holding on to my milkshake. I was not impatient, just waiting for her to address me; I assumed she was either still processing my transaction or working on something for someone else. Then, exasperated, she says "Yeah your card says partially approved that's $3.11" so I'm like wait were you talking to me? You aren't even looking at me." so " mmhmm yep you still owe 3.11" while smirking. ??? I don't even know what partially-approved means but I quickly figure it means I need to make up the rest of the balance since she repeated the 3.11 part and that's why she was still holding my milkshake. At no point does she say "there is an issue with your card do you have another?" just assumes I should know what she said meant.

Things happen and the situation alerted me that I needed to use a different card and check up on what happened to my account the first card belonged too. Nothing I have shame over but was very surprised at the rude and snippy way this employee handled the situation especially when I wasn't rude to her. This young lady could have explained more directly and not made assumptions because I genuinely didn't know what was going on. So after I ask which card that was I take a 1 minute or 2 (maybe 1 car behind me, not busy) to figure out how to pay with a separate card with ApplePay and I pay the rest. She takes it my phone, gives it back and simply walks away without saying anything. I'm waiting for her to come back so I can ask for my receipt ( I didn't know you guys glue them on the back of the order) because she didn't say bye or thanks and she left the drive thru window open, but I realize she isn't coming back so I drive away. I was not rude to her at all nor raise my voice or give her attitude, but I was left super confused by the interaction. I can understand she may have been uncomfortable with what could have been an awkward interaction where I'm sure some customers do get hostile, but she needs to communicate better and in my opinion she behaved in a hostile manner and handled the situation poorly. It was obvious I had no idea what partially approved means but I think she assumed I was trying to scam Cookout.

I have been to this Cookout before but have never had an experience like this.

I hope Cookout Manassas works on training their employees to deal with what they perceive as a conflict better. Is this how you all train employees to deal with what is I would guess is a...

During a road trip down south, some years back, I made a stop to fill up. The aroma of a fresh charcoal flamed burgers lingered in the air. That’s when I got hip to Cookout…a southern fast food joint. Now it’s one in N. VA. LET’S GO!! . Where I am: @cookout . Location Reviewed: 8502 Centerville Rd., Manassas Park Virginia . Menu Includes: Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Chicken Strips, Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs, Quesadillas, Chicken Wraps, Fries, Onion Tings, Hush Puppies, Nuggets, Beverages, Shakes, & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Banana Fudge Shake ($4). DELICIOUS. Thick, with chunks of REAL banana in it…tasty!!

Their Chicken Quesadilla (with cheese, & chicken $2). PASS. Edible, & inexpensive, but dry & flavorless.

Their Corn Dog (with mustard $2). DECENT. A good menu item for the kids.

Their Out West Style Burger (with bbq sauce, cheese, bacon, mayo, pickles, & onions $4). DELICIOUS. Small, but flame grilled, & tender.

Their Char-Grilled BBQ Chicken Sandwich (with bbq sauce, pickles, & mayo $5). DECENT. Again small, but flame grilled, & lathered in bbq sauce.

Their Big Double Tray (a Big Double Burger with bacon, a pickle, cheese, lto, mayo, & mustard, Fries, Cheesy Bites, & a Cheerwine soda $7.99). A GREAT deal for a fast food place!!

The Burger-DELICIOUS…tasty. The Fries-PASS…not crisp, & flavorless. The Cheesy Bites-DECENT…little mozzarella bites…good. The Cheerwine-DELICIOUS…they have good crushed ice. . Customer Service: On Point . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Plentiful . Recommendations: Try their burgers & custom shakes. Inexpensive.

I love this place. ALOT. I love the food the burgers taste just like a certain burger place that starts with a 5.

Really good hush puppies and my gosh YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THE WALKING TACO. So simple yet so good.

The chicken wrap was alright but made with good quality chicken.

Really great bacon too.

The BLT is so simple yet so fresh and tasty and still has a bit of that charbroiled flavor to it.

Only thing I can say is, I do wish that the cashiers or people taking your order in the drive-through will be a lot more patient with people. I don't think we've ever had a cookout in this area, I personally have never been to this place ever.

And my first time there I felt like I was rushed in the drive-through and I felt like the person taking my order was kind of agitated and whenever I asked "like how does this work" he was just like "look at the menu"

So after that experience I came home and studied the menu myself, but a lot of other people may not have that type of patience, all he needed to say was "you can either order a box meal and it comes with so and so options, pick whatever you want on your burger or you can order things individually which will be under the boxed meals section"

Other experiences have still been a bit rushed.

The people at the window are always friendly.

I've been there several times so far and as I said the burgers and walking tacos are amazing and the prices of things here are so legit.

Just work on being more warm with people especially since this is a new establishment...
