The restaurant is very Nicaraguan with a nice selection of ethnic food from the country. The Quesillo is very popular and worth driving 45 minutes (I actually drive that far) as I haven't found a nicer place that serves Nicaraguan cuisine. That said, the wait is long, longer than quoted on the phone and, today, they made my eggs were cooked the wrong way and the pen used to sign credit card receipts isn't cleaned. I had to ask the lady to clean the pen and when she said that that was the only pen they had there I told her to refund my money and I'd pay with cash. The lady said that she didn't have time and went to find a pen, found one and I was able to pay with a clean pen. If you have time to sit down and wait around for your food, it's a pleasant experience and the food is good. Quesillo is best, breakfast dishes are good and I'd try the carne asada or chimichurri dishes. The nacatamle are too greasy and you can't taste the ingredients as you can taste in good Nacatamale. All this said, it's labor intensive and timing consuming to make this ethnic food and it's a labor of love to cook to share this unique cuisine. Noy many authentic Nicaraguan restaurants around. Worth a trip to try all the...
Read moreThis place was nice, food was amazing! The picos are so amazing, the fried fish was delicious. The plantains with cheese was great too... they give you some cabbage salad with it....omg..delicious, the only bad thing was the cheese it's not cheese from Nicaragua. I got the imitation fried cheese, but i still ate it. The salpicon with white rice was on point. The bunelos were ok. Food gets a 5 star rating. Please bring back cheese from Nicaragua.
The reason I gave 4 stars was because of the service...it was ok. There is someone who greets you when you walk in. The menus are by the register and you have to walk up to the register to look at the menu and order. This is a sit down restaurant, but you don't get restaurant service. Once the food is ready they take it to you. You have to throw out your trash and leave the plates on top of the trash receptacle.
The place is clean, and bathrooms are super clean! Thank you for that.
It's definitely worth the trip from Maryland to here. I am planning on going...
Read moreVisited this restaurant yesterday and everything was absolute TRASH. Beginning from the service from the woman at the cash register taking orders’ customer service was TERRIBLE. Seemed annoyed that they actually had some business. We asked for the quesillos to come out first. They took 30 mins to come out with two quesillos and the tortillas were old. Not to mention they don’t bring the food out to your table while dining in. They make you go get everything. We ordered the Saturday special which was the Gorda. You could tell NOTHING on the plate was fresh. There was no flavor to anything. Not even the Gallo pinto. So disappointing. On top of all that, we asked for two pieces of lime, the lady in the front charged us $1 for lime. Completely unsatisfied. Will not be dining here again. Save your money and make the...
