This is the first Review I have ever written, Thats How bad my experience was. I am traveling from northern Vermont and staying in town for business. This was my second night visiting Mulligan's The First night the severe at the bar was bad.
Night one. The older or the 2 guys (late to mid 40's) took about 20 minutes to recognize i was evan sitting at the the bar before i was able to get a drink. another 30 min for him to take my order and get me another beer. The food came out in a timely manner from when my order was taken. The food was good fairly priced and had no problem with it. it than took another 30 min after i was done eating to get the check than another 20 before some one took my card to run it. Over all bad service but good food.
Night 2
So despite the bad service the food was good and it was close to my hotel so i stopped in again. Same problems with the service took about 25 min to get my first drink. The guy next to me and his wife the same thing. In the next 30 min it took for some one to come take my order me and the guy next to me who also had a background in sales joked about how horrible the service was and how the bartender would walk by and look the other direction so he would not have to deal with us. It was friendly banter between the 2 of us and we talked about sales and his old business and it was good company. Finally his food came out and i was still waiting to order mine (we sat at the same time believe it or not) and Finally ordered my food. My food came out in a timely manny from when it was ordered and like the night before it was good. The guy taking care of me must of over heard our conversation because as i was almost done my food he said " oh i see your food is finally out" Made a huffing sound and gave me a look and walked away.
I felt like he had done something to my food i was sick thinking about it. I immediately pulled my card out to pay and leave i was done, it was sickening. I left more than 1/2 my beer and put my card on the bar. This time the other bartender was on top of me and took my card and rang me right out. As i got up to leave the guy say with a grin "you have a good night"
On the way out I waited for them to seat a bunch of people and explained everything to a nice woman working the hottest station she apologized and a guy over hearing her and said the same thing.
I was sick thinking about what was done to my food. I left and got in my car. i was very up set and unhappy, so much so i had to turn around and went back and ask for a refund.
I went back in and asked the Man and the woman for a refund and re explained the situation. The Guy who said he was the owner and manager said that If i did not like how i was treated I should not of left a tip. (I did so because there was another guy working the bar who was doing a good job and typically they throw the cooks a few bucks as well)
He was very stand offish and made me feel even more upset. i was justified in asking for my money back. I left with much frustrating, again, went back in and re expand everything. I wanted some one to listen to me and at least admit that what happened was horrible. Its not about the money it was about how they made me feel. The guy got very belligerent with me, so I walked away as i was almost out the door he yelled after me "theres something wrong with you", I walked back in and said to him "Really, that was uncalled for, all i wanted was for you to understand what happened and feel like some one cared in the littlest bit" I turned and walked out and held the door for a woman on my way out.
I really wish i had the whole thing on camera, I'm sorry too the bartender who gave horrible service that you over heard me and the couple making light of the situating... To bad, you were horrible, but don't make it seem like you messed with my food and be rude, Manager/Owner look at yourself your staff and your business is this how you want to be know? I Gave you 3 Opportunities to make right with me, THREE, and each...
Read moreLIES LIES AND MORE LIES! We went to Mulligan's for a celebration, and decided to order my husband's favorite: wings. He decided to try their "Applewood Smoked Wings" since he has been a fan of those since our living in Virginia.
However, when the wings arrived, they looked like regular, plain fried wings. The weird thing about it was that the wings had a smoky taste to it. What made things weirder was that the meat was white. He immediately asked the waitress is there had been a mistake as the wings did not look "smoked".
Her response was that the cooks first smoked the wings - without cooking them thoroughly - to imbue them with flavor before deep-frying them. This was an obvious LIE because smoked wings (like real, smoked ribs) get an obvious pink/red smoke ring. Not sure if her response was a REGURGITATION of what management wanted her to say, but it sure sounded like it.
The REAL and ACTUAL thing is that the wings, advertised as "Applewood Smoked Wings" are actually marinated in liquid smoke and then fried. These are not really smoked wings, but rather, smoke FLAVORED wings. I don't know if the waitress was in on the fraud, but it seems certain that this business is built off FRAUD. These are not true smoked wings, but rather, smoke-flavored wings. NOT THE SAME!
I would also mention the watered-down blue cheese dip and instant mashed potato, but that would be too much information. I would like to hear Management's side of the story (if the wings are truly smoked, or just smoked flavored) to...
Read moreWe settled on this place for lunch after exploring the land of covered bridges from Shushan & Salem, NY to Arlington, VT.(Tue 10/22/24). We visited & photographed 5 on this exploration. And exploration is thirsty work. A quick run up to "The Outlets", Nah, not our thing. So time for drinks & eats. Mulligan's Irish Pub & Restaurant is right on Rt "Historic" 7A in Manchester, VT. The building is a bit worn, but it's comfortable like a well worn pair of blue jeans. No pretensions here. Note: no reservations. Big bar & very roomy for dining. Full house for a Tuesday - regulars & visitors (note: exceptional fall foliage brings lotsa of tourists to this area). Let's get to the good stuff. Found seats at the bar. Friendly bartender, Scott R took our drink order & brought menus. Lot to choose from the full service bar - 12 Indie draft beers, 15 "Brews in the Tin" (cans), 15 bottled beers, hard seltzers, wine, etc. Something for every taste. I had a local favorite Switchback ale ($8) & my co-pilot had a pinot grigio ($10.25). My lunch was a Really Great Burger ($16) 8 oz w/ cheese, LTO, FFs. She ahs a small Caesar salad w/ chix ($18) - not small at all. Good value for lunch. One menu for lunch and dinner. Lotsa choices from apps to substanial entrees. This place is popular with the locals all year round. Plenty of parking. Hours: Every day 12pm-12am, kitchen 12pm-8pm. Again a good first impression. Thank you to Scott R. & the rest of the staff at Mulligan's. We will be back. Nick & Liz,...
