Ruby Chinese Food — Restaurant in Manchester

So I placed an order just before 6:00 p.m. I was told it would take an hour for delivery. To my surprise it showed up in only 30 minutes, bravo!

However, I left specific instructions to call my cell phone apon arrival, and do not knock because I have roommates and some of them have odd work schedules...

They did not call my cell phone, and knocked pretty hard if it woke my roommate.( I live on second floor and can't hear knocking and we don't have a door bell.

Failure of the poor communication of the man who answered the phone and took my order to the delivery driver, resulted in said driver getting a $0 tip! I felt awful!

My sleeping roommate answered the door and delivered my food to my room without my knowledge that they were here, I ran outside to give them a cash tip but they were already gone.

I don't know why it's so hard to follow simple instructions?!

I even confirmed my number to make sure. The man answering the phone clearly made a mistake, which is fine. ( Or didn't care)

The food wasn't awful with the exception of the boneless spare ribs which were. I thought they were beneath mediocre, and container was only 2/3 full. Everywhere else I've gone life time, the always filled the container full. Very cheap of them!

Also, the advertise that they have fried pork dumplings. But, in fact they are seared on only one side, which is obviously sauteed on pan, and not deep fried.

Overall, I'm still happy because I always order more than I'm gonna eat and gifted the awful boneless spare ribs appetizer to my room mate who will eat anything! I personally felt it was suitable for the trash can...

Unfortunately I cannot in any way recommend buying the food here. I was very, very disappointed, and felt like I just threw my money away. Chicken lo mein was flavorless. The chicken almost did a disappearing act! I was pawing through the noodles trying to find pieces of chicken to put on my fork, and what I found were bits of chicken no bigger than the size of a pea, and they were sparse at that.They should call it lo mein and chicken bits. Also, it was only moist; there was no oil or liquid at all to stir it up with. Shrimp with snow peas was another total failure. Snow peas were so huge and overgrown that the peas were coming out of the pods! No flavor whatsoever! It tasted like steamed snow peas. The shrimp was not generous, but it was perfectly cooked. Once again, no delicious liquid to stir in with the rice. To make any of my meal edible, I had to add stir fry sauce at home! It's a shame, since before Ruby's changed hands, it was the best Chinese food in...

As i hunted the local Manchester area for good chinese food i came across Ruby. Hopeful for a good meal me and my family placed an order. It only took 25 minutes from the call to delivery, and the driver was quite polite. That was the extent of the enjoyable part of my experience. The food i ordered-boneless spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and general tso's chicken-were all mediocre at best. Both chicken dishes were over fried. The sweet and sour chicken had dried out and turned yellow it was cooked so long, and the general tso's chicken was hard to chew. My dish was the boneless spare ribs. They were wet with a sauce of no notable flavor at all. The rice was nothing more than wet globs mixed sparsely with chopped chives, fatty pork bits, and onions. All in all this is the place to settle for if you are bound to a table inside, otherwise you should run to ANY other local eatery. Order delivery if you need someone to talk to, but...
