Update (Feb 2021): Raw calzone! So I tried again after a run of disappointing orders and was once again disappointed; it was worse than ever. Both of our calzones were oversauced and wet, and one of them was full of raw dough. The employees are either under-trained or just don't care, but either way, it's a reflection of bad management. Missing ingredients is bad, but serving uncooked dough at a pizza place is insulting. I'm done. I'll spend my money at one of the other pizza places in the area.
Original Review (2 stars, 2019): I really want to love this place. The quality of food is excellent. The customer service is not amazing, but fine for the context. I've probably placed 6-8 takeout orders from here over the last few years, some with custom orders, some with orders straight off the menu, and I don't believe a single order has ever been 100% correct. Either some ingredient is missing or some ingredient was added that wasn't expected. At the higher end of pizza prices, this inconsistency is unacceptable.
The latest case involved calling in a calzone, asking for no ricotta, being told explicitly that there is no ricotta on the calzone I was ordering, then receiving my calzone with ricotta (as well as cheddar?).
It's one thing to screw up an order once, but when it happens every time across several years, something is wrong with the management and training of the entire team. I keep trying, hoping for that one perfect order, and keep getting disappointed. I'm likely not going to try again, but if I do 6 months from now, I really hope it will...
Read moreAs always, amazing food & great service.
I have been going to Sal’s since the 90’s. I absolutely love them. They have always been my favorite pizza place. I was lucky enough to have a school that actually had Sal’s pizza delivered for lunch every Friday!! That was the introduction to Sal’s. I have been hooked ever since🤭. The pizza taste just as good as it did the first time I tried it.
We always get 2 pies when we order. The next day, we reheat the second pie in the oven & have that for lunch or dinner. It is so good reheated in the oven. Not many leftover’s are just as good, if not better, next day but Sal’s most definitely is.
I LOVE SAL’s. I cannot say enough about them. I have eaten at many different locations…it started in Salem NH because they are the ones that delivered Pelham High’s lunch. Then, I have also been to Seabrook, Derry, & obviously Manchester. I know there are a few others as well. These are just the ones that I have frequently gone to.
The one thing that has always amazed me is that it doesn’t matter which location that I went to, the flavor & quality of the food is ALWAYS consistent. That is not always the case when you go to other places. They have always been delicious & consistent. They also offer some great deals & the price for the size of the pie is very fair.
I cannot recommend Sal’s enough! You will definitely enjoy it & it will instantly become a family favorite! I swear by it! Just give it a try. I promise that you will not...
Read morePizza tends to vary in quality but is overall OK. Staff is usually decent, if not a bit catty. That's not the reason for the one star review. This is directed at management and company policy.
The reason is that even though they're open till 9PM on most weekdays, they stop making pizza by the slice after 7 PM. This is an unwritten rule, and apparently is because the regional manager complained about unsold pizzas under the heat lamp being thrown out at the end of the day.
REALLY???
Is this chain really that cheap that they can't afford to throw away what is probably at most $15-20 of cost in ingredients and labor on a slow night? I basically wasted time driving over to a restaurant at 7:30 that ADVERTISED that it is open till 9PM, only to be told that they refuse to make another pizza due to the fear that they MIGHT have to throw away half of it in the hour and a half they remain open?
Another customer behind me also apparently had the same problem so it's not just me. Surely the meager cost savings aren't worth turning away potential customers and wasting their evening and gas like this.
At the very least, you should write this info down on the menu and have it displayed on the website so you're not misleading customers and...
