Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Mandeville

This was our first experience with Newk’s. Had heard mixed reviews but were pleasantly surprised with the entire experience! Online ordering was easy! Placed order, entered CC info; and immediately a pickup time flashed onscreen. When I got there right on time the food was on the To Go shelf. I left my eyeglasses at home and this nice young lady assisted me to pick up the correct order. The pizza was actually very good! It’s a thin crust pizza which is what we usually order from Papa John’s anyway, so that was perfect. Sauce was a little sweet but enjoyable. This was my first experience, and I ordered takeout.

The subs were just okay—not bad, but nothing special. The mac and cheese portion was disappointing; I ordered an entrée size, but it was more like a side at other places. On the other hand, the salad was surprisingly large compared to what most places serve. I wasn’t a fan of the dressing, but that’s just personal preference—something I’ll switch up next time.

I have been getting the pimento cheese sandwiches, and they are pretty good. Today, I ordered ahead since I'm leaving town. This sandwich was spicy, as if it had hot pepers on it. I don't recall the previous sandwiches being hot. I have slight allergies to peppers. I eat them but it make eating miserable sometimes. I checked the menu again, and I didn't see anything about these sandwiches being spicy. I wish I had known in advance.
