Ike's Love & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Manhattan Beach

So the staff member taking my order at the counter didn’t know what beverages they offered. She asked ME to go over to the beverage station myself to check IF they had iced tea and was surprised when I informed her that they carried iced tea. I really don’t care. Also when I asked her for her opinion to help me decide between two sandwiches, she started ringing in those two sandwiches instead. I had to stop her and ask her WHICH one to get. With zero enthusiasm, she said, “that one, I guess, but I like turkey and bacon.” I so don’t care about the lack of hospitality. So the bathroom was pretty grungy with a dirty floor/sink and a toilet that hasn’t been wiped down in a while. Frankly I don’t care. And I had asked for a side of their sauce for my order. They forgot. Truly, do not care. All I care to share is that my turkey bacon sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Bread was tender but held up to the filling. First time here & first time ever trying Ike’s….i gotta say guys, for what the location & food lacked, Darnell, the cashier made up for BIG TIME, what a great guy. Awesome attitude, very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu & just an overall pleasure to interact with (something AI will never be able to accomplish) the place could use better seating & the prices are…well pricey AFFF but it is a damn good sandwich for sure, but damn $4.65 for a bottle of root beer? That’s wild. Again, Darnell made it all much easier to hand over $21 for a sandwich & soda with his awesome attitude. On 5/13 at 5PM, my boyfriend and I were given the worst customer service ever at this location. The cashier (only female there) was extremely rude, spoke over me as I was ordering, and was staring at me with a disgusting expression on her face as I told her our order. She rolled her eyes every time I spoke. I tried to look past her attitude and clear disdain for her job, asked her a question regarding the allergens for bread as I ordered a vegan style sandwich. She told me she had no idea what was in any of the bread, and spoke to me in a condescending tone. It is actually illegal to not disclose allergens at a food establishment. Having an employee with no knowledge is a liability. The interaction was so bad, my boyfriend who is the calmest and friendliest person in the world, said NOPE and lead me out of the store. Her behavior was childish and unwarranted, the manager of this location should be made fully aware and reconsider the employees they have hired.
