Bamboo Buffet — Restaurant in Manhattan

What an awful experience! We moved back to Kansas a few months ago and this buffet used to be our favorite place for Chinese food and I’m so sad to see how badly it has gone down the drain. We came to eat here on 1/16/21 in the afternoon and it has been the most disappointing dining experience we have had. There were only 2 carts with some food, I say some because there was no Lomein, dried out beef and broccoli that had 2 pieces of broccoli, no fried rice, no child friendly food. Nothing. I saw multiple people go around the two stands they had and nobody knew what to put on their plate as the food was empty or it looked like it had been sitting for a while.

Both areas where they have silverware was also completely out of spoons and forks, and only on the area that’s by the salad bar had knives. I approached the owner and told her there was no Lomein and all she said was “5 minutes”. They didn’t have any wait staff coming to pick our plates, so we had a huge pile of plates sitting at the end of our table. I will not be returning, it was definitely not worth the long drive, the expensive price, and the mediocre food they had sitting out. If I could give it 0 stars that’s what they would get. Such a shame this is how their restaurant has gone downhill, because it used to be such a great buffet to get delicious...

I've only given one negative review in my life before now, but I feel I need to warn others about my experience. Last night I arrived just before 7pm for dinner. I've been here several times in the past, last time being a couple years ago, and while not the best buffet I've ever been to, it was pretty decent.

I don't expect a five star dining experience from a buffet, but the food was absolutely disgusting! Everything was extremely greasy, overcooked, and the beef and broccoli was gelatinous and the broccoli was mush, it honestly looked like some things had been there since lunch. They only had one small plate of sushi, and it tasted off, like it hadn't been replaced recently or not kept at the proper temp, I had to spit it out and hoped I wouldn't get sick.

Once I walked into the buffet and seating area things were visibly very dirty, the carpet had a lot of food stains, the floor in the buffet area looked like it hasn't been properly cleaned in a while, and my mom got a coffee cup and it still had lipstick on it. I'm a reasonable person, who doesn't expect them to be able to keep a buffet spotless, but this is just a complete lack of quality control, and it made me hesitant to eat the food, because it left me wondering what the kitchen must look like. I'm incredibly disappointed with this place, I should have read the reviews before we came here. I feel like they know their food is bad too, they had us pay for our meal before we even sat down- they probably had too many people walk out without paying because it's not worth the money once you try it. The majority of the food is lukewarm at best. The shrimp just tasted like bread crumbs, the noodles and rice were bland and dry, the chicken was burnt for almost every dish, the crab rangoons were wet, the "sushi" was warm, inconsistent, and didn't have real ingredients. Even the ice cream was partially melted in the freezer. The only food I kind of enjoyed was the egg drop soup. I'd like to talk about the service, but there was none. We walked in, made eye contact with the man at the front counter, and he decided to finish whatever he was doing on his phone before he even acknowledged us. We were left standing there, confused whether we should just go sit down or not. In the hour we were there we saw one person cleaning tables, and they only came out to clean once. I'm not a picky eater, and my husband will eat pretty much anything. We both agreed this is one of, if not the worst buffet we've ever been to. Save your money and go...
