Jade Dragon Buffet — Restaurant in Manhattan

I was very skeptical of returning to this place. I was told it is under new management and that it is 100% better than what it used to be. When I stepped inside, it was like stepping into a BRAND NEW restaurant. I have travelled all over the world and ate in many restaurants. All buffet establishments are the same, there was not one that I went into where I was impressed, most of the time the food is bad and cold and most of these places smell horrible... BUT the JADE DRAGON broke the stigma of buffet restaurants. When I walked in, I was and still am impressed... I noticed first how clean it is, then I noticed that there was no smells, nothing over powering at all. I then walked into the dinging room and was very impressed on how everything was set up. Everything seemed to flow and there was nothing out of place. The food looked AMAZING and fresh and hot. My favorite was the Egg Drop Soup. I absolutely love Egg Drop Soup, it is my most favorite soup. Since 2008 I have been searching for a place that does Egg Drop Soup the RIGHT WAY!! I've been in numerous Asian buffets and restaurants all around the world and every time I get Egg Drop Soup it is either too salty, too thick, too runny, or just plain bad. But when I had a cup of Jade Dragon Egg Drop Soup, I was transported back to the WOK INN outside of Fort Lewis WA where the best Egg Drop Soup in the world was made. Very yummy food and amazing service! The staff was very attentive and fresh food was put out often. The restaurant was very clean as there were staff regularly cleaning up as well! Very friendly atmosphere, there is a warmth in the air. The service was some of the best I've had in my entire life.

The food was very filling and well seasoned, even the dishes that weren't to my taste were delicious. There is a great variety of seafood that taste very fresh. I was very pleased to find peppered frog legs!

The labels on the food are very clear and detailed so there is no confusion as to what you can grab. There is a hot soup and dim sum wall, a salad bar and dessert bar. The fruit and vegetables were very fresh and crispy.

I go occasionally with my family but for this review I went out with my friends. I love buffets, always. So I got about 5 plates of food and tried a variety of the meats offered here, and I can say that they are amazing! Even if there’s a dish I may not like, there is so much variety that I still get satisfied. I can also enjoy all of my favorites, such as; the vegetable lo mein, egg drop soup, broccoli and beef, and the dumplings. Stellar flavour, stellar seasonings, and regularly changed out plates for freshness keeping the food well tasting and hot.
