Employees don't know where items are. When you ask them a question, they duck their head into their gadget, which is incredibly rude - ask permission to look it up and request a moment to do so. Ask the customer how much research they've done already. Employees should know their store's layout, and have a basic understanding of their inventory.
I went in to find an item I had already spent 30 minutes researching on your site. I was greeted by 3 employees standing together in a circle a the entrance. I told them I'm looking for Lazy Susan turntable hardware. One said they don't have them, one ducked their head into their gadget, and one guessed it might be in cabinet hardware. I told them I already looked it up and showed them the item. After looking at the page, one employee pointed to the screen and said it's order only. The one who ducked her head into her gadget replied "no, we have X of them" and told me what isle. I said "great" and went to the isle. I looked up and down the isle and could not find the item. 2 employees in the isle were pushing a ladder, and asked me if I needed help. I told them what I was looking for. One employee replied "I'm a merchandiser, and I've never seen that item in our store," while the other ducked their head into their gadget. I explained I was just with 3 employees, and they told me where to look. The employee replied "well if you've looked we probably don't have it." I insisted, "I know I'm in the right spot, it has to be in the cabinet hardware. You used to be able to find employees who knew where items were. Now, everyone looks at their phone." The employee got defensive in his tone, began looking for them item himself, and found it. It was tucked away in the corner hard to see. The merchandiser never stopped what he was doing before I got there. When I was walking to the register, I was greeted by a confrontational manager who asked if I was finding everything OK. I have no doubt one of the employees I was working with relayed that there was an unruly customer in the cabinet hardware isle. If I was in leadership, the conversation would be with the employees, not...
Read moreThe store and the employees there are fine. The delivery drivers are a nightmare! They had me shut the main water valve off to my house to unhook the water hose to an old refrigerator. They brought the refrigerator out. When they were putting together the new one I told him I wanted the doors reversed. It was obvious they simply didn’t want do it. They told me I had to call Home Depot and buy a new part if I wanted that done. Ridiculous! I told them to wait cause I was gonna call customer service to ask about this. I have never heard of a refrigerator that does not have reversible doors. They got all huffy and didn’t want to wait and asked if I was refusing delivery. They had other deliveries to do so they refused to wait two minutes for me to make a call. So they took off and left me with the water shut off. If I turn the water back on in my house the tube that is supposed to go to the refrigerator will start draining all over the floor. So of course, I have to call and complain to people and now I’m waiting for them to come back. Now their story has changed to there is a broken screw and that’s why they couldn’t reverse the Doors. Baloney! They were too lazy to switch the doors for me. If there was really a broken screw, they would have just said that, and they certainly wouldn’t have told me that I needed to go buy more parts! So I’m wasting another couple of hours waiting for them to come back. And apparently I’m gonna have to take another day off from work to have a replacement refrigerator come. Total sham! Update- they came back with the fridge with a THIRD story. Now the GE emblem has been ripped off and that’s why I need a new fridge. What happened to I need to order new parts to...
Read moreI shop quite frequently at Home Depot particularly because I own my own daycare business, and I am also single without ways of figuring out carpentry skills on my own so I take a lot of my small projects into Home Depot to see if the guys working may be able to offer advice or even sometimes cut certain things for me that I may need cut! I will say I have had a lot of the guys help me out who have went above and beyond to help me! I went in Home Depot last Sunday evening with some Lego Plates I had purchased from Target to make a Lego table. I needed about 5 inches cut off the bottom, and tried to cut one with straight edge at home at ruined it. I took the plates in the store and passed a gentleman working in Home Depot and asked him if he could help me figure out what the easiest way would be to cut these Lego plates, and explained to him that I already cut one at home and ruined it. He looked at me and said he would use a straight edge and I told him I already did and ruined one and asked him if he could please cut them for me and I would not hold him responsible if he ruined it. He quickly said we cannot cut plastic sorry and walked away! I went to the sharp scissors isle and bought something I thought would work and than went to the check out and seen a familiar face walking by, and I asked him if the scissors would work to cut my plates. I told him my situation and he said if I purchased the scissors he would cut my plates for me. His name is Matthew and he cut my plates perfectly for me and I was able to make my lego table! That is why I continue to go to Hone Depot because of employees like Matthew who go above and beyond and actually cate about their customers! Thank you Matthew! You...
