So after reading all of the reviews I decided to take my husband here for Father's day instead of UMI. He loves sushi and ramen so I thought it would be nice to try something new. The outside of the restaurant is a little run down but most of the best places are. We walk inside and immediately the floors are so slippery and dirty that you almost fall. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and taken to our table. There were five of us and we were seated at a 4 top with a small table pushed up to it. Both tables were super sticky and dirty feeling. The chairs were gross and one was held together with duct tape. When we sat down there was music playing but after about 5 minutes the speaker died and it was dead silent in the restaurant. Our server was great. We ordered the dumplings for an appetizer and they were delicious! After the appetizer we were waiting for our entrees and the ac turned off and the restaurant got super super hot. Like uncomfortably hot, my husband was pouring sweat as well as my baby. Our entrees came after about 10 minutes and my chicken tempura bento box was delicious. My husband got a volcano roll and a side of ramen. He said the roll wasn’t rolled tightly and it had no flavor other than the wasabi and soy sauce he was using. His ramen had whole slices of Spam and a whole egg in it. He said it was okay. My oldest son got beef ramen and he said they were just okay and my youngest son got hibachi chicken and he barely ate any of it. It wasn’t a horrible experience but it wasn’t good. If the AC would have kept running and the place hadn’t been so dirty it would have been better. Our bill was 97.00 and I left a good tip for our server because he was awesome. But for that 120.00 we could have a more comfortable experience at UMI. Would I go back?...

This was our first time trying Green Tea Sushi! We loved it! The staff was friendly and willing to accommodate dietary restrictions, as I am gluten intolerant. If you are gluten intolerant/gluten sensitive, I do recommend looking over the menu before you go and getting a few options that you think might work. I called ahead and talked with staff about a GF menu/GF prep. They agreed that they did cater to GF, and asked me to mention it to the waitress when we got there. Our waitress, brought out a paper that had a list of ALL things that contained gluten. It was easy to read through because I had already planned what I wanted before coming in, I just had to double check on the "Contains Gluten" menu and make sure we were good to go. Some of the stuff that does contain gluten (fried rice, hibatchi sauce, etc.) can be made to be gluten free!!!! :) Be sure to ask for this paper when you go in! It will help tremendously!

Our waitress was Emilee -- she was very attentive to us and was eager to help us out!

Our food came out quickly and was delicious! :) My only complaint would be the flies and lack of air movement. It was pretty hot in the restaurant, but sometimes that's hard to control in the middle of summer -- so I'm not holding that against them.:) Overall it was a great experience! Will definitely...

Given that this is in a smaller town in the mid west it is not bad, you just have to know what to avoid. Good sushi, fresh rice, nice atmosphere, quiet but booths for kids. I go here for lunch sometimes if i want peace. Here are my peeves. Do not order sashimi - it will be cold with frozen bits inside - it should be room temp and is not, it is watery and not palatable so cold. Also - do not order tea. The tea is made with chlorine water and tastes of chlorine - I made this mistake twice with a 6 month bracket (which is why I forgot). The maki is good! Best sushi place in Manhattan. Umi is also good for sushi.

1 yr later: I went back with a friend from Germany. It seems it has changed ownership and it was awful - that was 1 yr ago and I have not been back. The rice was stale and had not been washed before use 9too much starch) and it had not been drenched in the special vinegar for sushi rice. It was awful. The fish was wet. Don't go back - the new owners are not good at making sushi. Too bad the only other places in town are Dillons west side and UMI. It is base don my recent experience that I am...

First time visitor. I was craving sushi and this joint popped up as a recommendation and it looked like a decent one with a ton of favorable reviews. I do regret not ordering some sashimi, which is one of my top tenders when indulging in the food of the sea. I gave the golden scallops a try, not too bad but a little tangy for what I expected. Eel sushi was pretty good. Wasn't 'too keen on the las vegas roll, it was over powered by the cream cheese, but of course still palatable. The place was packed and raging with conversation. I ordered to go online and the timing was efficient and the staff were nice and fast as well. The prices were pretty good which is great for all the seafood lovers out here in the area. Parking lot is somewhat plentiful but if its a weekend at night, be careful, might be packed.

Visited Green Tea Sushi while in Manhattan Kansas. It was the Japanese restaurant I have been looking for in Kansas. Most of the Japanese restaurants in my area are hibachi style places. Green Tea is a full menu restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine and sushi. The staff was great and we did not have to wait to be seated. We tried the crab rangoon, gyoza, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura chicken roll, and shoya ramen with pork. Everything was very tasty! The price for 3 was around $50 so it is not an everyday stop for most. The atmosphere was not as cozy as I thought it should be for a restaurant like this, but it was still well above acceptable. I will be returning as there is a lot more I want to try. I definitely recommend Green Tea Sushi if you want good Japanese cuisine and sushi.
