Broken Plate Catering and Diner — Restaurant in Manitowoc

Ok I wish I could rate the food and the service separately. First I truly like the food and feel the owners do an outstanding job with the menu and the finished product. The older man who cooks truly cares and comes out to each table to welcome you and thank you for coming . He is an outstanding chef and you can count on a good meal . Now we go to the service part .. it saddens me to note this but they have a waitress that makes the experience horrible. Now truly maybe she just needs education or to be managed but she in my view is horrible. She never offered us water , we asked for extra napkins and had to ask again as I guess she forgot . We ordered coffee and she never offered refills on the coffee but wanted to take our cups away . We were still eating with food on our plates and she wanted to take our plates . As my coffee cup was empty I asked for a glass of water and waited and waited .. I looked back at her and she said something like the container was empty and she was filling it .. but was talking with people all the while… I finally got up and said can I just buy a Diet Coke since I can’t get water ? She did at least bring the Diet Coke . She truly has no concept about how to be a waitress in my eyes . Is rude and obtrusive …so we could not relax and enjoy our meal . I have head other folks say the same things about her. So bottom line the food is good . The older gentleman is wonderful and kind .. but their main Waitress is lacking and takes away from the experience.. God help you if you want water , refills on your coffee . Napkins or want to finish your food in peace or even linger .. I am not sure if I ever will go back .. I know for sure that I if I do go back and she is the waitress I...

This has been our go to Manitowoc restaurant for a couple of years. My mom is in Green Bay & my sister and I are in the Sheboygan area. Manitowoc is a good meeting point. Two weeks ago we were there for lunch on a Friday. My fish sandwich had 2 little pieces of perch that were tiny & over fried. Today all 3 of us were disappointed with our food. I specifically asked for crispy bacon, I said not burnt tho. I got burnt. The waitress was not at all friendly There was one other table of 3 ladies. It took 25 minutes to get pancakes & an omelet. The final strike was the women's bathroom. It appeared someone had peed all over the seat & floor. I politely told the waitress the bathroom needed attention. We also told the waitress we were celebrating a bday. Not one word from her. We've celebrated several bdays there. There was a FRIENDLY waitress who always wished the person a happy birthday. This was our last time coming here. The vibe has changed too much with the new owner. Not for the good.😕

so much care goes into the owners cooking. when you get an omelet, there are not just a few chuncks of veagies - these vegies are cut into very little pieces and the omelet is filled and the flavor is delicious unlike any other restaurant in town and the prices are reasonable. This is a restaurant where one will never get bored - included on athe menu are some unique entre's and the few have been a delight. I give credit for perch dinners and there are perhaps 3 or so the best - not now - The Broken Plate joins and I would suggest #1 - How does this owner Joe of the Broken Plate create such excellent perch - flavor unknown elsewhere?
