It's a great visit very interesting you can view the entire sub from the forward to aft torpedo rooms about the only place not available on the tour is the conning tower. Mess areas, kitchen, officers quarters, crew bunks, engineering spaces are all visible. The only part that's a bit difficult is passing thru the hatches their smallish and require some dexterity to get thru. I have to say it's not handycap friendly and because of the hatches and confined spaces there's no way to make it accessible to anyone not reasonably mobile also a word of caution for very heavyset people there are a few very constricted places where anyone over a certain size will not get through I'm 5'10 and 205 and a couple places were tight so keep those couple of...

Learning about the innovation, expertise, and wisdom of the amazing people who designed and built these machines is so interesting. It's also a reminder of the valor, courage and sacrifices made to keep our country free. The other permanent exhibits about shipbuilding and the shipwrecks in Lake Michigan are also fantastic. The interactive water table downstairs is very well-designed and kept out kids busy for a long time. And don't miss the sea lampreys! So much to see and do here. We...

Either way, she's a beautiful example of a WW2 Gato and one of the best three I've ever visited. (Hint, all 3 great lakes boats) Being a former submariner obviously the boat was my main attraction. But the rest of the museum is absolutely spectacular. You can tell it's definitely a labor of love for both the employees and volunteers. Thank you for your continued dedication to keeping the memory of our shipmates 'on eternal...
