If you're from the area you already know what Pagliai's is about. This is for the out-of-towner or college student.
Pizza, it's right in the name. This is a down home, I don't want to say divey, pizza joint. The atmosphere is cool. The lighting is lower, the booths are big, and if you're observant enough they even have an old Mrs. Pac-Man cabinet hiding in the back.
Round pizza, square cuts, and it works. The ingredients are super fresh and definitely top shelf. You won't find another place that serves a pizza to this caliber. They have a unique menu filled with delicious pizzas. Nothing generic about their menu. The "Sweet Heat" is my go-to almost every time. I've had all of their pizzas and I can't think of one negative experience. Even the veggie pizza is tasty.
They also serve up a selection of pasta. So if for some reason pizza isn't your thing (I recommend you see a doctor) they have you covered.
Their is a soda fountain which has never served a bland glass of fizz in its entire existence. Better yet is the beer selection. There isn't a huge arsenal of tap handles, but what they do carry is great. Typical Budwiser and other normal beers. But lurking on tap is a handful of beers from The Mankato Brewery. Branch out and try one of their unique beers and you probably won't drink your dad's choice of beer again.
Pricing is great. Your get more than your money's worth here. When it comes to quality and customer service. You will definitely become a regular in no time.
Last but not at all least is the staff. Always super upbeat, friendly, helpful, professional, and most crucial, knowledgeable about their menu. They offer great advice on how to choose the perfect pie and even recommend a brew to compliment your meal.
100/10 the best pizza place in existence. Yes, 100/10. I used to live in Fargo. Roughly 4.5 hours away. My friends and I have made the trip here just for Pagliai's. If that's not saying something about this place, I don't know what is.
Located in central downtown, open late, it's the perfect spot. Do yourself and your friends a favor and stop by. Also the perfect spot for an awkward first date. Even if you don't like your date, you'll love the food and experience. Really takes the sting off and is literally the definition of comfort food.
Stop in for the pizza, stay for the atmosphere, and come back for...
Read morePagliai's has the best pizza in Mankato. I could just stop there, but I'll just go on to say that I am married to a pizza addict, who has had us try every type of pizza in the city. Yes, there is good pizza at other places in Mankato, but why go anywhere else when you could have the best? This place has been in business for over 50 years, and I don't think it has changed much, if at all in half a century. It hasn't needed to. The food speaks for itself. The crust is always perfect. The cheese must be from another planet--I've never found cheese this good on any pizza anywhere but here. My husband and I are also partial to their sausage, which is simply "to die for"! I have tried many of their combinations, and I am here to say that you cannot go wrong. You can dine in at this quaint, little place, but we most often order delivery (which arrives piping hot), and occasionally we get a take and bake, so we can cook it later on at home. Their thicker crust pizzas take more time to bake, but believe me, it is worth the wait. Don't be thrown if you call and get a busy signal--they are still pretty old-school, but they have two phone numbers, so if you don't get through on one, try calling the other. You'll get through pretty quickly. They're just a very busy place, and that should tell...
Read moreRe-purpose my pizza- WHAT?!?!?
I ordered pizza from Pagliai’s tonight, where I was super excited until my order came to my door. I ordered a Cheese pizza, a Deluxe Chicken Alfredo, and a Works Pizza for my family and I. When I opened the boxes- they had messed up my order. Instead of having my Deluxe Chicken Alfredo I received a BBQ Chicken pizza.
In my bummed mood- I decided to call Pagliai’s and make them aware. When I called, I explained the situation and the gentleman said that he remembers what I originally ordered but someone must have hit the wrong button. He told me they can send me a correct pizza but not to eat the BBQ Chicken pizza and I would have to give it to the driver when they arrived in another 40 minutes. I asked what they were going to do with the pizza (because I don’t want food going to waste) and he said not to worry about it because THEY WOULD RE-PURPOSE THE OLD PIZZA.
Excuses me???? Re-purpose a pizza that came into my home, had the box opened and was contaminated by my sick kids coughs? I about threw up!!!
I hope Pagliai’s Pizza does not take someone’s mistake pizza and re heat it, or re-sell it to someone else!! This was...
