Ummie's — Restaurant in Mankato

My girlfriend and I heard amazing things from friends about Ummies. We were excited to finally check it out. Unfortunately, the food and service was horrible. We really wanted to like the restaurant, but it was one bad thing after another. We ordered some wings for appetizers and that was fine. I got the black and bleu burger and my girlfriend got the avocado burger with an egg. I asked for no dressing and when I got the burger, it was easy to tell there were barely any bleu crumbles on top. The egg was cooked all the way and both burgers were well done black on both sides. You could taste the char from the grill and it was very dry. My girlfriend works at a restaurant, so we were trying to be understanding to the waitress, but it took us over 15 min from us asking for a check and to actually paying out. Our server instead closed out the check of a big family. We sat before the family, ordered, ate, and asked for the check before this family. And we still were waiting for her as she walked passed. She didn't even check back with us to explain she was busy or behind at the moment, completely ignored. Not to mention, another table came 20 min after we sat and they still got their bill before us. We couldn't believe it. We then thought maybe if we cleaned the table, got our jackets on, and had our card out and ready she'd realize we're ready to leave... still nothing. We then thought of just walking out, but we didn't want to be rude. Finally, another server came and cashed us out. As I was signing the receipt, our server finally came and apologized. She then shared all the servers are behind, but she really just didn't prioritize us when we were there first and completely ignored us. We did not tip and she gave us a $5 gift certificate for our "inconvenience". We're still shocked we had such a bad experience. For the restaurant to have a full page on the menu of just burgers, you would think the burgers would be better. You can't request temperatures, it's not add on friendly, char tasting, and sadly all around a black patty. We will not be back any time soon. Be wary of their burgers and bad...

Worst food and experience I’ve EVER had. My husband, daughter and I were all in town from Sioux City for a college visit. We were so hungry afterwards and being we’ve never been to Mankato before we wanted to try something delicious. We read some reviews and it seemed to be a great choice. DISGUSTING AND DISAPPOINTED are two words that come to mind. The bartender was our waiter and acted like we were an inconvenience. He asked for our drink order and walked away before waiting for my husband’s order. Really, you can’t wait a second and take all three drink orders, he was in a huge rush and couldn’t be bothered. With only two other tables with guests. We were not there during lunch or dinner rush. We were there around 3pm. We all ended up ordering burgers even though I wanted to leave after the drink order experience. My daughter and I both got the burger with egg and tots. Both had so much salt I could not eat any of it. Waiter came over when our food was delivered by someone else and said, “I’m about to take off so do you want to cash out now?” Not, how’s your food, can I get you anything, NOTHING!
