In short: 1) aggressive and dangerous behavior by manager 2) dirty silverware 3) cold and tasteless breakfast 4) inside charm
During our first visit we encountered a series of disappointments that regrettably compel me to issue an urgent warning.
Initially drawn by the thousands of positive reviews and the restaurant’s charm, our expectations were not met.
A warm welcome from a friendly waitress set a positive initial tone. We were seated comfortably on a patio with a view of a mini wooded area, enjoying our coffee and juice, despite that the quality of the meals—ranging from cold grits to flavorless corned beef hash—was profoundly unsatisfactory.
Our meal began with the disappointing discovery of dirty silverware, which prompted us to request disposable ones. The food, when it arrived, was below expectations: the scrambled eggs were cool and tasted unusual, and the corned beef hash was flavorless, etc.
Despite expressing our dissatisfaction to the waitress—who mistook our polite demeanor for satisfaction—the food remained largely uneaten. We put our forks down and left over half of each item untouched.
On the waitress second checkin we requested the bill and attempted to address our concerns. I was conflicted, this is a business to make money and I was a consumer there to spend - we took a chance and wanted to pay but also wanted our concerns addressed respectfully.
The situation escalated when we addressed our concerns about the food. Although our server was courteous, the intervention by the manager was anything but professional.
He was dismissive and sarcastically conveyed they have never received complaints about the taste of their food (the other negative reviews say otherwise), culminating in an inappropriate and aggressive demand for full payment, despite the compromised dining experience. We came to an agreement to take off two items. When the check arrived we paid in full minus a tip - in cash, left on the table.
The manager's conduct extended beyond the confines of the restaurant as he followed us to our car, photographically documenting our vehicle, license plate, and ourselves, which felt invasive and threatening - and completely unnecessary.
This alarming behavior continued with him overtly recording us as we departed, visibly upsetting the child present. We paid our bill.
I advise caution to future visitors and sincerely hope the owners addresses these serious concerns with proper training and reflection. We will not...
Read moreOur Place is located off Debbie near the FM 157 in Mansfield, serving great breakfast and brunch in a lovely environment with plentiful food choices for the whole family.
We visited this fine establishment on a Sunday right after the brunch rush and had to wait a couple of minutes in the waiting area to be seated. The interior is well decorated, and there is an abundance of tables and chairs to sit at for families and large groups. We were seated, and our drink orders were placed along with menus that were provided to our table.
We went ahead and ordered a black coffee to start the day off right along with the chicken fried chicken that came with vegetable soup and a choice of 2 sides. We also ordered pancakes, bacon, and 2 over medium eggs. We ordered a kids' plate of macaroni and cheese and fries. Our server came and brought a basket of freshly baked bread with muffins. The chicken fried chicken was perfectly battered and deep-fried golden to perfection. It was smothered in a creamy gravy, and the chicken was well-seasoned and moist. The vegetable soup was flavorful and complemented the dish very well. The bacon was crispy while the pancakes were fluffy and soft. The eggs were cooked just right with the perfect amount of ooze coming from the yolks. The macaroni and cheese was definitely cheesy, and my daughter enjoyed the dish quite well. The star of the show was the baked bread and muffins. They were nice and warm and airey, and I found myself devouring every piece of bread along with the churned butter.
Our Place was a terrific place to eat for a Sunday brunch, and our family enjoyed it very much. The customer service provided was top-notch, while the staff worked effortlessly to get guests in and seated. The food quality and service were outstanding, and the prices were fair and affordable. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something new but most of all to get my hands on the freshly...
Read moreDon’t want to speak too soon BUT… this could be our new favorite restaurant.
After waking up craving some home cooking, my fiancée and I headed to Our Place Restaurant for the first time 🥞
Was pretty easy to get to from Arlington: just a straight shot down Cooper, quick right on Debbie, then a (protected) u-turn at the light by the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for The Performing Arts. Lucked out with a spot up front, but there’s plenty of free parking in the lot 🚗
Hostess said it’d be a 40 min wait, which almost deterred us, but it was really only ~15. To kill what we thought could he an hour, we hung out back by the game area. Cool spot that has (i) a putting green, (ii) corn hole set, and (iii) a large Connect 4 game. Was kinda disappointed we got the “your table is now ready text” so soon, bc we were having a good time ⛳️
Inside, Mia — our certified food sherpa — gave us a full tutorial on the menu since we were newbies. She’s had almost everything on the menu. So, was a great guide and very nice.
My fiancée started off with the Soup of the Day, which was vegetable. It comes with cornbread and some rolls, and she loved it. Mia told us that people love it so much, they actually serve it twice — on Thursdays and Saturdays 🤌🏻
For the meal, my fiancée got the Chicken Salad + a single stack buttermilk pancake, and I got the Eggs Benedict. Everything was perfect. Food was hot, came out fast, and only one of us was able to finish 😩
Atmosphere was exactly what we needed to. Good ol’ southern hospitality and comfort food. Whole restaurant even clapped for two birthdays. And, other servers and staff told us to have a great day as we waddled to the exit to head back home 🐧
Overall, giving it 5 Big Booms 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻! We’ll be coming back soon and might have to bring a few more hungry...
