Not going to lie...I almost didn't leave this review because I didn't want this little gem to be discovered and become too busy (it's a very small place - three tables and a bar with a few seats). Obviously, that wasn't the right move because the owners and staff deserve to be recognized for their efforts and given a chance to grow. Plus, I want them to stay open and continue serving amazing sushi! My wife and I moved to Arlington a few months ago and looked for our next go-to sushi spot but unfortunately couldn't find what we were looking for. That's not to say that there isn't quality in other local sushi places. Sushi is almost always good. There are a lot of sushi restaurants in Arlington and Mansfield, but they are pretty much your average get them in get them out, make as much as possible in the meantime kind of places. Nothing wrong with that approach, it's just not what we prefer as we've found that the sushi is often over-sauced or inconsistent in quality and proportion. Volume is often a detriment to quality, that's no secret. This little restaurant, however, became a beacon of hope. We dropped in tonight based on the great early reviews and photos of what we would call good "American" sushi. We were not disappointed. It's clear immediately why they decided to keep the place small. They want to give the sushi chefs ample time to craft sushi that fulfills a high standard. The appearance as well as the freshness and combo of flavors verify it. Combine that with the more than fair pricing, you've got an absolute winner. If you are a sushi lover looking for the right local spot, look no further. Sushi Gio ticks the boxes and will leave you feeling like you got...
Read moreSushi Gio is a charming, intimate sushi spot that offers a cozy dining experience. Despite its small size, with only four booths and eight bar seats, it has managed to cultivate a loyal customer base, especially during dinner hours. Lunch tends to be quieter, but come dinner time, the place fills up quickly, so patience is a virtue if you choose to dine in the evening.
The service can be hit or miss depending on the day. With typically two people crafting sushi and another two managing orders, the efficiency of your experience can vary. However, the staff consistently strive to accommodate all guests to the best of their abilities.
One potential downside is the juggling act the staff must perform between in-house diners and a steady stream of to-go orders. This can occasionally impact the timeliness of service, but the quality of the food makes the wait worthwhile.
Speaking of food, the sushi here is delightful. My personal favorite is the Geisha Roll, which I order every time. The freshness and flavor are exceptional, making it a standout on the menu.
In summary, while Sushi Gio might require a bit of patience, especially during dinner, the warm atmosphere and delicious sushi make it a...
Read moreI almost don't want to write this review because selfishly I want to keep this gem of a sushi restaurant all to myself but I guess they deserve all the ⭐ stars! The quality of the food is top notch! I usually like a few things on the menu of any restaurant but I honestly have not ate anything here that I don't like. I eat a lot of 🍣 sushi and consider myself a foodie so it's rare to find such quality. The chef is superb and super generous with the sushi and fish portions. Him and his wife (works in the kitchen) owns the place and the pride of ownerships shows in the quality. Jim our server is the chef's son and is super polite and loves what he does. Best of all, their menu prices are very reasonable. We eat here about 2-3x a week. My kids love it and the wife approves the fish which is good for lowering my bad cholesterol. Go here and you will agree and give them grace if it takes a while for food since it's just the family working there and they do their best!! Foodie...
