This restaurant is one of my favorite Thai restaurants that I’ve visited for years now but when I visited this afternoon (January 15) the customer service was poor. The new server was rude and did not bring us water prior to our food arrival. When I placed my order I told him I wanted my food not too sweet which is what I always request and there’s never a problem but he made it seem like it was a problem. When I told him I wanted my food not too sweet he said “have you been to this restaurant before to know how we make our food because you’re asking for your food to not be sweet”. I clarified that my food can be sweet but not too sweet yet he acted like it was difficult to understand. I then asked him to bring us water and include lemon and he stared in the air like it was a strange thing to ask for. The sassy attitude was beyond strange and unnecessary. I knew he wouldn’t bring my food as I requested so I spoke to a woman wearing a white t shirt uniform with very long hair. She did not take my complaint about the server seriously and instead said “oh he’s just from Lao and they’re very straightforward people but I will tell the chef”. When my food came out it was very sweet and not modified in any way shape or form so I doubt they told the chef. The lady never came to our table to ask if I like my food. The fact that a simple request couldn’t be done shows the two employees lack of effort and intentional disrespect. I took what they did as a subtle “you’re going to eat it how we make it”. This kind of shady and rude behavior will certainly chase customers away. I’m sure if the general manager knew he would have corrected them because the male general manager is excellent at what he does and always double checks with customers to ensure they got their requested food. I didn’t bother asking for the general manager because I had made my request twice and didn’t want anyone tampering with my food by saying my request...
Read more"Living" magazine readers voted Blue Mint as "the Best Asian Restaurant." The magazine is local to Arlington and Mansfield. Our friend – a foodie – said that many of her friends loved it. We trust our friend’s suggestion. The restaurant is a combination of themes. Thai food is at its core. But its Asian fusion. There are dishes from Japan, China, and Vietnam. Yet, it looks like a sports bar. There are big-screen TVs with the latest live sporting events. Your favorite beers are cheaper. We wanted to try dishes from the Lunch Specials menu. But not every dish we wanted was on that menu. So, we added those extra dishes. From the Lunch Specials menu, my wife ordered Pad Thai. Not on the Lunch Specials, were Fresh Rolls and Panang Curry (my favorite) Though we ordered Fresh Rolls, the restaurant served us Fried Rolls as well. They were free. Both types of rolls were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. The temperature of the food was perfect. The Pad Thai was the best we’ve had in years. It had a smoky flavor which we hadn't tasted before. The fried tofu in it was delightful. The bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy. The Panang Curry was flawless. The sauce was rich and thick. The chicken was tender. The steamed rice that came with it couldn’t be better. We finished lunch by sharing a bowl of Green Tea Ice Cream. This was also perfect. The portions of Pad Thai and Panang Curry were generous. We had to take them home for dinner. Then, we had a repeat of the delicious dishes. I can confirm that my friend and the readers of Living magazine are correct. Blue Mint is an Asian restaurant with delicious food and efficient service. Without a doubt, it will be one of our favorite...
Read moreThis is my very last time ever giving them a try. The poor service that I have received the past few times has become very consistent. On one occasion, I went in and was seated, and then no one ever came back to take even a drink order. Another group of people came, and after we were seated, their order was immediately taken, and they were serviced like they were VIP. I literally had to say something to even get them to come to our table. The young gentleman, who is the new owners son, was very apologetic for the service we received. The other guy, who's been there for a while face basically let us know he didn't care. I came in today with my daughter and experienced the exact same behavior. When we walked in, the guy in the front sat us. He sat the menus down and walked off. NEVER TO RETURN OR EVEN LOOK OUR WAY. The younger guy walked past us 3 times and did not acknowledge us sitting there. I picked up my phone after sitting there about 5 mins and started my timer. They each went to every other table that was there, and neither came to our table. After over 5 mins on the timer, my daughter stood up to leave. The younger gentleman (owner's son) at that point asked if we had been helped. We said no, we had not, and we left. I'm a very loyal customer to any establishment I patronize. I will NEVER return here and will try to convince as many people that I know not to...
