I went on Thu 10/29/2020, the 3rd day they were open to pick up my take-out. It was a busy Thursday night (around 7PM). I came early to check out the place as I spent 20 years at this location at Tahana and really wanted to check it out, and hopefully grab a drink at the bar. They did a wonderful job renovating the place, and it felt a bit upscale which was nice. After 5-10 minutes a spot opened up the bar so I sat there and grabbed a drink. I had ordered a cheese pizza (has a fancier name), manicotti, and calamari. I was told 20-25 minutes when I ordered, but it was easily 45 minutes before the food came out. Being it only the 3rd day with the parking lots packed, I knew coming when the restaurant was so new would draw a crowd, and it did. I will say that every employee in there from the hostess to the bartender to waitresses etc were very kind. That was a huge plus making me feel immediately comfortable.
It's a 10-minute drive home from the restaurant. I told a handful of employees that I was at the bar and please let me know when the food comes out as I don't want it sitting too long and get cold. When the food came out, it was less than 5 minutes to finish my drink, pay, and leave. My wife & I were a bit disappointed with the food. First of all the food was cold with maybe a trace of heat, so of course that will diminish the flavor. The offerings are priced on the high end of the scale of bar & grilles in the area, so that coupled with the colder food obviously made it less than an enjoyable. The food was good, but hard to equate it to the price.
I drove by there tonight (Fri 10/30/2020) and both lots were full and parking on the street with the snow. I can't imagine how this initial opening rush with the pandemic affects things. One time never tells the story. I will probably wait a month or so until the initial frenzy wears down a bit before I give it...
Read moreThe newly opened Italian restaurant in Mansfield located close to the train station had me excited to try it out. I went on a Friday around 1230. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and comfortable and every table was socially separate of each other. We sat at the end of the restaurant and the tables were setup between 2 glass sections on each side. It was an excellent idea and one that works well with COVID.
Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive and helped us with every need. She was very polite and eager to help us out. The few other waitresses I observed were the same way.
The menu is large and seemed a little daunting but I started with the Pasta Fagioli which was delicious. It had the perfect amount of veggies and pasta to broth. The broth was very rich and delicious as well. For lunch, I went with the Famous Roast Beef Dip. Probably not a great choice as it was very dry and just not that memorable. I'm not sure how it got famous. I had asked for salad instead of the chips but unfortunately they gave me chips not salad. They did offer to get me a salad but it was too late. My friend got the Chicken Sorrentino to which he said was delicious and the portion was quite large.
There is ample parking with lots on both sides of the restaurant.
I would like to go back and try some other dishes like the Pizza which looked amazing but so far I rate...
Read moreHave dined at the family's other restaurants and always enjoyed the experience. The Trattoria deserves to be part of the family! We made a reservation for a Thursday night and were seated quickly. Great service, waiter was efficient and friendly. I think his name was Matt. The hostess was great. She made the rounds to each table to check in and seemed honestly happy that guests were pleased. As we were leaving each staff member acknowledged us and thanked us for coming saying they really appreciated our business. The cocktails were delicious, perfectly balanced. My husband had a gin martini and I asked for something that was not on the menu and was cheerfully served the perfect libation. My husband had a perfectly cooked margherita pizza and I had meatballs and manicotti. We had more than enough for lunch the next day! Do yourself a favor, stay local, don't break the bank, let someone else do the dishes you become a regular here! Went in the next day to grab a gift card for some friends and the place was hopping! Easy to grab the gift card (which included a menu and gift envelope). So next time you are going to a friend's house, forget bringing flowers and grab a gift card from the Trattoria and have your friends become...
