Whit's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Mansfield

I've always liked their different flavors, creamy and delicious! I'm sure they are still good as my friends enjoy them, but unfortunately I can't have them anymore (curse you allergies). Because of this, I tried the Vegan coconut milk flavors this location offers and have been really disappointed. In general, frozen coconut milk desserts are not creamy, more akin to Italian ice than anything. The vegan vanilla tastes like they dumped half a bottle of vanilla extract into an ice machine, it's one of the worst I've ever had. I heard some Whit's locations are doing vegan oat milk instead, which usually makes a much more creamy consistency and would make more sense for a company focused on that style of dessert to use. edited to point out that the advertised price on their drive-thru board is very inaccurate. In early March 2022, I paid $6.50 for a small sundae that was advertised as $4.75. I was told “yeah the price increased.” No offer to rectify the price or an acknowledgement that the marketed price needed to be corrected. Kind of a disappointment from a place I’d had good experiences with previously.

What a great little iced treat shoppe. The building’s interior is very clean looking, staff is friendly, and the the custard is delicious. I’d take Whit’s over Dairy Queen any day. Only suggestion would be more menu options, but I’d imagine that will come with time. After a blazing hot day at the Indicar race, this mama to be needed some ice cream! I looked up on my google maps the closest spot and whit’s frozen custard popped up. Walked in, the gal at the register was extremely nice and helpful! She was very patient with me because I couldn’t make up my mind. I ended up getting lemon raspberry custard mixed with strawberries, bananas and almonds. OMG. Let me tell you it was divine! I took that first bite, my mouth was bursting with flavor, the custard was so smooth, the lemon raspberry had the perfect zest, and the toppings made it compete. I was in heaven.
