My family has been going here for 10+ years. There used to be four of us. Now it is just my husband and I. It is these latter years we see changes occuring that make us leery to return.
We love the food. It is consistent- which is a rarity in South Jersey. More impressive is that it is consistently good. Eggplant is delicious. All of the pastas are perfection. The same is true for any of their seafood dishes. The owners are the kindest brothers you could ever meet.
The last 2 years however the atmosphere has made it undersireable for us. I write this with the hope that they can facilitate change. The waitresses are no longer friendly, there is such a mad rush to get you in and out asap that we feel like products on an assembly line. We have tried on different days. And different times but the issues remained. I have left there with indigestion on more than one occasion. Now, there is a consistent pattern in how they move tables along. Midway through your salad they put the soup down in front of you and literally 4 minutes later they put down your entree. 3/4 of the way through your entree they hand you a check or the dessert with the check. Even diners do not behave in this manner. I understand that they are busy and this is great for them but this is going to affect business overall as I suspect regular customers like us will grow tired of being treated this way. I don't want to see that happen.
At first the wait staff was rushing you but trying to do so with a smile on their face. Now they barely make eye contact with you. The younger waitress, a very tall slender blonde, is the worst of them. She may still be executing the rushed protocol while smiling but if you try to stop her to ask a question or heaven forbid stay 5 minutes past her placing the bill down, her whole demeanor changes. One time she put down take home boxes in front of us without being asked while we were still eating. Another time, she leaned in and said "we need the table". We kept track of time and we were there for only 35 minutes. On a third occasion, I had a table of 8 with family from out of state dying for some good Italian food. At the 70 minute mark, she told us we had to leave in 10minutes. My 65 year old brother was still eating his entree! She said every table gets a 90 minute max so she would like us to pay now and get ready to go! We were in shock and humiliated in front of our family. Matt, please do something. I tried calling twice only to be told you...
Read moreOwner is really rude he told us not to call here anymore to order. Don’t worry we won’t! And I will be sure to tell everyone I know how ridiculously rude and disrespectful you are! We waited a hour and 10 minutes for fries and mozzarella sticks and they came ice cold. Then he blamed it on the heat of the summer. Not sure how that makes sense and I have no idea how they are still in business with that kind of attitude.
I don’t know what you heard but we never said we never order from you because you suck. I wouldn’t order from you if I thought you sucked. But a hour and 10 minutes for fries and mozzarella sticks in the heat or snow is ridiculous don’t tell people 20-30 minutes. And then don’t be rude about it. It’s nice your tone changed over a google review I wish the phone conversation was as recorded because the owner was extremely rude and screaming “don’t call here again. I don’t do the customer is always right here. Don’t order from us again.” So I will take your very rude advice and pass it along to family and friends who do order from you and now they won’t.
Here is what my husband wrote since he was the one on the phone. Placed an order for 2 fries and mozzarella sticks. The girl on the phone told me 30min and after 3 calls the food didn’t show up until 1:15 min later. The food arrived cold and when I told the owner about it he said what do you want me to do it’s hot out. After arguing with me about it he finally refunded my money and told me to never call again. When I asked for the owner he said he was the owner and he doesn’t play the customers always right game.
So let’s recap 1:15 for 2fries and mozzarella sticks food arrives cold the cheese hard as a rock and the mozzarella stick were like string cheese from the fridge. Somehow that’s my fault yeah that’s sound about right. I didn’t say you suck on the phone I said this is the reason we stopped ordering before and it’s sad because we liked your food. The fact that if I didn’t keep saying the food was cold you were just going to hang up and go...
Read moreJust had a great dining experience at Santini's. My wife, son and I went these on Valentine's day for dinner. We arrived at 5:30 and there was a line waiting to be seated. It only took about 20 minutes to be seated even though it was very busy. The waiting staff was really professional and very quick. Once we were seated, our drink order was taken and filled very quickly. they also brought fresh, warm rolls with butter and olive oil. They have a wonderful salad bar filled with fresh everything. Good choices, properly chilled - a real treat. My wife and I ordered from their special menu (2 complete dinner for $45). The food was delicious and the plates were enormous. I think we will get three meals each from our meals. My son ordered his usual chicken tenders and fries. Again, huge portions of each. We all shared the desert choice that came with our special. It was so large, we struggled to finish it between the three of us. Santini's is a BYOB which helps keep dinner costs reasonable. In total, we spent a little over $60 between the three of us (not counting a generous tip for the great service), and we have more than enough food for at least one more meal for each of us. In summary, popular restaurant (it was crowded). Seated quickly, very professional staff and fast service, great food, very reasonable price. Probably the best value meal we have enjoyed in years. Very highly...
