The Sandbar Restaurant is off the beaten path. You would never find it just driving by, as it's hidden in the midst of strips of warehouses a block off E Elkcam Circle behind Walker’s Marine (Google shows it to be around the block at 22 Omalleys Alley). But don’t let the run down appearance of the neighborhood keep you from going in, as the food is great. This is a classic local bar hangout (drinks from 7AM to 2 AM). We went in for a late lunch during Happy Hour which is daily from 3PM to 6PM and 10PM to Close. During that time they offer some awesome deals on appetizers (e.g. oysters, wings, mini tacos and sliders), as well as typical reduced prices on beer and drinks, that makes for a really inexpensive early Supper. But what makes them one of my favorite seafood spots in all of Florida are their gigantic fish sandwiches. I prefer the deep fried beer battered filet accompanied by lettuce, onion and tomato, but you can get it grilled plain, lemon pepper, cajun, blackened, or crunchy. You could choose from fries or pasta salad and cole slaw as sides. The fish was fresh and cooked just right - they melt in your mouth. Everything was fresh, reasonably priced and tasted great. They have a rather extensive menu for a a bar. Right now they have 20% off coupons for Breakfast and Lunch available on their website. As far as ambiance, the inside is decorated with a light hearted nautical theme and 40 HD televisons that have a speaker system where you can get audio at your table (a nice addition if you trying to catch a game or the news). Also have a pool table and were Kid Friendly! Not a fancy place, but very homey and the wait staff is friendly and will take good care of you. May not look like much, but, their seafood is some of the best on the Gulf!! We went back twice more after our first visit. I heartily recommend you...
Read moreThis was a great place close to us that we could walk to and leave the car behind. From entering the premises the staff were welcoming , professional and lovely they seated us according to our needs (don’t sit me near the bathrooms) with sensitivity to our needs. It was really great of our server to point out the “happy hours”menu too, There were only two of us and the bill was just under 150.00 dollars and with a good tip of 25 per cent, we spent a wee bit, but we would have spent much more as we really liked your vibe and your premises and as we are on vacation newly retired with lots of surplus dollars you were a shoe in , but given your obnoxious bussing staff with his sarcastic get off your table! We have people waiting for your table, we were upset and hurt considering all the money we spent and all the other money in our pockets just waiting to be added to your till still in our pockets and so we took our business somewhere else where our money is appreciated and our open tab can run upwards of 3 to 4 hundred for just one of us alone.and sadly if we had never encountered your busser you need to know our server was outstanding,!! She anticipated our needs she was on point and was gracious at our table and understood that my hubby was there for the game GO CHIEF’S !!!! and she still treated him with dignity
Sorry about t’others staff😞 PS we were both born British but as we’ve stayed in Kansas and Oklahoma plus Missouri for over Twenty two years we’ve adopted the Chiefs as our team. Go...
Read moreThis place is great, laid-back and casual, loud with sports games, pool tables, drinking and eating all at the same time, but very friendly and clean. They have a very large menu and fantastic, friendly staff. I love the jars of pickles and pepperoncini at the tables. We went there while on vacation and wanted to see our beloved Blackhawks, so we Googled for sports bars on the island. We arrived there just before the puck drop and asked if they could put one of their many televisions on to the game for us. They put 3 TVs on the Hawks game and brought us a portable speaker so we could hear the game as we watched it (Sorry Hawk fans, they lost that night.)
The food was excellent, and they pour a nice fat drink. The salads were fresh, the Philly Steak sandwich was delicious, and the fried calamari was awesome. We didn't have any pizza, but the pizzas going by us to the tables looked and smelled delicious. When you go to Marco Island, be sure to check out the nice restaurants, of course. But at least one night during your trip, throw on some shorts and sandals, and go to Sand Bar, you will not be...
