Miyako Japanese Sushi & Steakhouse — Restaurant in Margate City

Have been to the restaurant a total of 3 times. Twice for dine in and once for take out.

The sushi is amazing, if you're looking to try something I always recommend Unagi (eel). Though I have been told to avoid it at opening of the restaurant but other patrons. So in that regard trust that you're going to get good soosh.

Now as for the dine in experience it is quaint and pleasing. It is a more intimate kind of atmosphere, low lighting, and the serving staff are always so kind.

Unfortunately, the take out hostess that I've come to share an experience with is quite rude, deadpan, and unwelcoming. Very unhelpful makes you feel like you're a bother for having come in. Very short in her responses to one's inquiries and is not what the restaurant should have as the welcoming face. I am sad to say the experience had from her has left me with minimal interest in returning again. I really hope to try them again sometime in the future but it will be a distant one for certain.

So why would I actually give a bad review. The food was actually good. Well that isnt the reason. The waitress didn't smile one bit. The moment I sat down, I smelled urine near me. Dont know where it was coming from. I dealt with it. Then I ordered an exotic Momba. Instead I got the chocolate momba. I got my correct dessert afterward. I'm OCD so I checked my plate and noticed gunk all around the plate. I checked my girlfriends plate and same thing. They were not clean at all. Too bad I noticed after I ate everything. Now I would give it 3 stars for even all that but this kicker got them to only 1 star. The bill was 113.61 which was correct. We gave the debit card and when they came back with the slip to sign and tip, it said 133.61. Now if this included tip, I would have said fine but this was not with the tip. They were trying to over charge us and hoping we wouldn't even notice it. I always notice stuff like this. This is the last time I go here ever. Not to mention, if you walk on the side of the building to go down the street, you might get a glimpse of the chef...

The worst service I've ever experienced. Such a shame because the food is great and really on the more expensive in comparison to all the other places around. Our waitress didn't remember or maybe it was that she didn't understand anything we asked for. Appetizers served without sharing plates which we had to wait for no kidding 10 min so food got cold. We asked for a fork and had to literally get up and get it ourselves from the bar.Waitress walked by and filled our glasses of Sprite with water and when we told her it was Sprite she came back with an attitude and brought out half filled glasses of Sprite...really ? A suggestion to the owners. Hire English speaking waitresses with a personality . We asked for suggestions on the menu and she couldn't communicate any just stared at us like we had two heads. Having waitresses that can speak English and that understand the menu would have had us spending more money trying new things, also the place wasn't busy, but we felt rushed.
