I called in advance to place my order. I will give you time stamps to give you context. I placed my order at 8:04pm. When I arrived the guy who took my order via phone asked to confirm if I placed the order for legume and I said yes. He went in the back to check if it was ready then returned to say it would take a few more minutes. Time passed and he started twiddling his fingers. He went back to check on the order and returned to say it's not ready there's only one person working in the back. minutes passed and a woman walked into the restaurant (I'm assuming she works there). She said absolutely nothing to me then headed to the cash register. At this point the man went to the back again to see if the food was ready. He brought it up front and the man instructed the woman on how to work the register. She advised me of the amount and asked if I was paying cash or credit. I told her credit. After signing my name, the man hands over the food that was in the bag and asked if I was mad. I was visibly disappointed. I responded that I expected more. Mind you I have somewhere to be. The woman repeated "you expected more" in disgust as if she was the Queen of England and I insulted her Royal Court. Time stamp I received the food at 8:42pm. That's the service they rendered. Now, let's talk about the food. for a restaurant to be named "Artibonite Caribbean Restaurant" you'd think the rice would atleast be good since the Artibonite Department in Haiti is known as the rice department. Well the rice was a knock off jollof rice. No flavor whatsoever. The plantains were stale. Not fresh and tasted like they were in the freezer for months. I paid for extra plantains and had to throw them away. Now the legume..... more disappointment! This legume tasted like it was left overs from days before. You can tell by the way it looked. Advice to the owners: you're a small business so be mindful of the way you handle customers. If someone handed you the same lack of service, and distasteful food you wouldn't be satisfied either. It's not my fault the food is nasty or that there's only one person working in the back. With the attitude the woman had you'd think the food would have been worth it, but it's waiting outside to get picked up with the rest of the trash tomorrow. Safe to say that I will no longer render my money to this restaurant. I was going to go about my business and never frequent again quietly until that woman opened her trap. You didn't even acknowledge me as the customer until you told me the amount and have the audacity to open your mouth after I made my statement. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE! There you go! Now go and work on improving your customer service and...
Read moreI try to patronize my culture my people and my food of Haiti, but I recently went to the restaurant and was highly disappointed in the quality of the food the chicken and sauce was even dry how does that happen other issues we asked for extra pikleez hot pepper and got a small thimble amount, what a joke. The Onion sauce tasted like it was out of a can I know how to make this onion sauce, and this sauce had a taste as though it was mixed with a chicken or turkey over the counter gravy. In all fairness I haven't been in this restaurant in about maybe four or five years and the quality has gone down. As far as service they're very professional very nice I have no complaints. In retrospect I should have passed on going there because the food stayed in my stomach for so long I couldn't eat for 24 hours it was like a brick in my stomach. I had bad indigestion for over 19 hours, and that doesn't normally happen with typical Haitian food so I don't know what they're doing but they need to look at how they're preparing the meals are they putting too much salt are they doing other things wrong I again would like to patronize my people but sometimes like every other restaurant they need to go through some changes so they can get that quality that we all pay for also the price was super astronomical I paid $23 for each plate and when I opened the plate it was a joke it was more rice than anything. I hope they can make some positive changes and I get it that price is of everything go up but who wants to go and pick up a $23 plate of food that you can make for $4 at home. Come on now stop gouging your customers and repeat customers keep a restaurant alive. I unfortunately am not going backz they lost me for...
Read moreI don't know why I didn't learn the 1st or 2nd time. Today was the 3rd time I got home with the wrong food. CHECK YOUR FOOD before you leave. The young man that worked today, customer service skills was just so horrible. The food is ok, NOT great. I only gave it 2 stars because years ago they were good. There is ALWAYS something burnt last time it was the beans, today it's the rice. The portions are surprisingly small. One plate of Haitian food is normally enough, with left overs, for my son and I....... today, I'm only eating meat and gave my 5 years old 75% of the food!! The best part, I ordered white rice and beans and they gave me rice and beans and bean sauce!! C'mon! Oh, and grio with...
