Sebastian Bakehouse — Restaurant in Mariemont

This is an unsolicited, unbiased, review.

Why should you consider picking up an item here regularly? The baked goods are consistently good, the service is excellent, and this is a locally owned business (shout out to Randy Sebastian and Laura Kate Adelman, Owners/Partners). You might be inclined to want to support them...they are talented. Truly.

I am obviously a fan. I find the various baked goods to be of superior quality. I feel confident you will find something that meets your culinary tastes or wishes.

If you like superior pastries, I encourage you to give Sebastian Bakehouse a try. I am confident that you will be glad you did.

PS: I have to comment on one review that questioned price and commented that they preferred another vendor for their croissant. Taste is subjective. I have no issue with that. Where I take issue? You can't POSSIBLY give Sebastian a single star because you prefer another provider or you aren't pleased with the price point. Come ON - this is a small business with superior quality - be fair. Awarding a single star is purely mean spirited and truly not appropriate.

PS: Note to Lorraine Baker... come ON. You can't possibility, legitimately, rate a small business one star because they keep hours you don't happen to like. If you review a business on Google, review their products. That is legitimate. There is NO possible way anyone is going to rate this bakery one star based on their products. Lorraine, where is your empathy? Where is your kindness? These two owners are trying to grow their business and make a living. All you did was maliciously attempt to harm them because you weren't happy with their hours. That is simply wrong. And by the way, they are open over the weekend...Saturday and Sunday ... and YES, they often sell out...and YES, people wait in line. Why? Because they are that creative...

Food is very good but disappointing they only open at 8am on the weekends. The average Cincinnati-area bakery opens at 6:30am on Saturdays. Some open as early as 5:30am - but IMO that is a bit aggressive.

I also saw a few complaints about bringing pets (dogs) in the store. I attempted it once and was immediately yelled at by the staff. Totally get your frustration - and in hindsight, I should have realized that the dog hair and open-air bakery items don’t mix well, but I think it would really help if you just put a sign on the door that reads “no pets allowed.” If there isn’t a sign, then potential customers don’t know and assume it’s ok.

Unfortunately, the way it was addressed to me (“GET OUT! WE DON’T ALLOW DOGS!”) left a bad taste. I’m not looking for an apology - just a simple sign on the door.

But for the people complaining about not being allowed to bring their “ADA” dog in, a dog is still a dog. It’s a health hazard for the bakery. Again, I should have realized that before walking in.

Your food is quite delicious (5⭐️), but first impressions are everything, so I think this is a rather easy fix.

This bakehouse did not come to play. I read reviews across social media and online. Where lines can get long and they sell out. I arrived 2 minutes before opening. I must say, I was lucky because it was raining. However, it didn’t take long before the line started forming.

I have been to bakeries where the aesthetics of the pastries do not match the taste. The pastries are pretty and are the most delicious and aesthetically pleasing.

Pig & Fig Croissant Danish Biscoff New York Roll Pomegranate & Mascarpone Croissant Passion Mango and Coconut Cream Crube One I do not remember what it was.

All of them were delicious. Each one was filled with a delicious creamy or lemony type of filling. No gel. The Pig & Fig was savory. The pastries were not dry or hard to chew like some I’ve had. These are top tier and well made. Now they are a little pricey, but it’s worth the price. As the pastries are simply beautiful, filling but light too, and pretty big in my opinion compared to other places I have been, charge just as much or more for a smaller size.
