I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jambo Grill Atlanta and what an unforgettable experience it was! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm, clean and inviting ambiance that beautifully reflected the rich cultural heritage of Kenya.
The service was just as exceptional as the atmosphere. The staff welcomed me with bright smiles and genuine warmth, making me feel like a valued guest. At one point, I found myself torn between two dishes, and our server enthusiastically shared their personal favorite—a recommendation that turned out to be absolutely spot-on. Their passion for the cuisine was evident, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.
Now, onto the true highlight—the food! Every dish was bursting with bold, authentic flavors. The nyama choma was expertly grilled, with a lovely smoky aroma. The ugali had the perfect texture—firm yet smooth; Paired with the sukuma wiki, it was a flawless combination of richness and freshness.
The Kenyan sausages were out of this world—perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite was a reminder of the rich, savory taste I grew up loving. And the samosas—both beef and veggie—were an absolute delight. Each was crafted uniquely, yet both were bursting with flavor in every bite. The crispy, golden pastry gave way to perfectly spiced fillings that left me completely blown away.
Every meal we ordered was delicious—there wasn’t a single dish that disappointed. What truly set this experience apart was the family-style dining option. Sharing a variety of dishes, passing plates around, and enjoying each bite together gave the evening a heartfelt, home-like feel. It reminded me of gathering with loved ones at the dinner table—laughing, storytelling, and savoring a meal made with love. The flavors brought back cherished memories of special family gatherings in Kenya, where food was more than just a meal—it was a celebration of togetherness, tradition, and joy.

Read moreWow..my wife has DEFINITELY been gatekeeping this place from me. She told me over and over about Jambo but she never brought any food back home. Marital problems aside, this place is delicious. I knew I was in the right place when I walked in and smelled all the seasonings. That put my trepidation at ease. When I ordered the samosas, I noticed that they didn't have a dipping sauce or chutney to go with them. Instead I was offered a lemon slice. The husband explained that this was more traditional. When I tasted them, I immediately understood the assignment. They were the best samosas I've ever eaten!!!! They honestly didn't need a sauce with all that flavor. They come in beef or chicken. My wife and I got two orders to go but I digress. My wife and I both had the whole tilapia with sides ranging from greens, cabbage, to plantains. We are everything down to the fish head. Absolutely delicious! You can tell that husband and wife duo really has a passion for what they do. I spoke to both of them at great length afterwards to get a little bit more of their story and they are both so gracious and humble. I really enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. There's a certain intimacy about the place. It's like I visited someone's house to get something homemade. We even got extra chapati for the trip home. Honestly as I write this review... I'm planning my...
