In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. So when I proclaim that Brothers Three serves up the best pizza in the Marinette metropolitan area, it is more a function of negligible competition than Brothers Three blowing back my hair with their culinary offerings.
With that out of the way, I had a decent experience during my last visit to Brothers Three. The restaurant was packed with customers when my party of ten arrived early on a Saturday. Despite the crowds, the host promptly seated us and provided our group with menus. With plenty of dark interior woodwork and low wattage light fixtures, the recently remodeled interior still gives off a 1970's sort of vibe. The only thing missing is a Space Invaders video game console.
Overall, our server preformed admirably. While she struggled to answer our questions about the beer options available that evening, she checked in with our group frequently, cleared dirty dishes, kept our group well hydrated (a critical task, as it was 99-cent domestic tapper night). I also appreciated the prompt delivery of our bill, which allowed our group to make it to our next destination on time. Another nice touch was the general manager making rounds to all the tables that evening, chatting with all the patrons, whether they are newbies or long-time patrons.
The food was generally underwhelming. While I enjoyed the crust of the cheese bread, the bland cheese topping needed more browning in order to develop more flavor.
The pizza was a run-of-the-mill, hand-tossed pizza. While marginally better than the low-end big chains (Pizza Hut / Domino's / Papa John's), there was nothing too memorable about the crust and the sauce, good or bad. When it comes to toppings, Brothers Three adheres to the quantity over quality philosophy. The pepperoni pizza had a thick layer of slightly burned pepperoni. My bacon cheeseburger pizza was studded with bacon nuggets (good) and slathered with an excessive dose of low-end yellow mustard (bad, V-E-R-Y bad). The under-seasoned hamburger had peculiar texture. As strange as it sounds, I enjoyed the pickles on the pizza, but they really needed to be diced. The intense flavor of the thick, dill disks completely overwhelmed any of the other components (even the awful mustard). We had a pile of leftovers and with the help of a hot skillet, the excess pizza made for a pleasing feast the following day.
Brothers Three remains a popular dining spot in Marinette - the place is always packed every time we visit. Despite the shortcomings, it's a cost-effective way to feed the kids on those nights when you don't have the time or energy to cook a homemade meal. It is not destination dining, but it's better than most of the other dining options...
Read moreI don't write a place off after one bad experience. I will give them time, the benefit of the doubt, and multiple more chances before enough is enough.
This place is only okay for its pizza. Keyword: okay. The quality of ingredients has noticeably decreased over the years.
I very much do NOT recommend ordering anything on the menu other than pizza, unless you wanna have a bad time.
First instance was discovering their breaded fish on Fridays is frozen fish, so it's mushy and disgusting.
Second instance, I ordered delivery. They forgot my salad dressing and took over an hour to bring it to me. The lady on the phone even told me they were sending people out for delivery driving right past me, none of them stopped for one minute to dropped off a sauce cup on their way, I had to wait until after they delivered those items first even though I had ordered my items nearly two hours prior, and it was their mess up. The breaded cauliflower was undercooked and breading had mostly all fallen off before I even got it.
So it's been at least 6 months. I figured I'd give them another chance. Maybe they had new people working, or other complaints, and things would have changed for the better. I ordered a chicken fajita pita. It was an absolute disaster. The lettuce and tomatoes were shoved to the bottom of the pita pocket and topped with the chicken and onions. Overstuffed so the pita pocket was ripping at the seams and a fourth of the ingredients fell out upon pick up. I had to eat the pita pocket sideways, taking bites across in order to get toppings and chicken in one bite. I also don't understand the logic on the sauce sizes. I got a very small 1.5oz cup of marinara sauce for 6-7 mozzarella sticks, not enough even for someone who dips their sticks lightly. But then I got a whole 4oz cup of sour cream for my pita pocket. That was absolute overkill. I love sour cream and often use a lot of it, but that was way too much for the size of the pita pocket. The marinated chicken was overcooked and dry. You could tell just by looking at it that it was dry. Not...
Read moreUPDATE : Well to your response, you tell me, it was on the receipt, so obviously who ever entered the ticket is the one responsible for us getting the wrong items on the pizza and thus we were also charged for it. Sound about right……
This place has really gone down hill over the years. We used to frequent here, now maybe 1 out of 5 times it’s decent. (The one in Oconto is way better). We made an order for pick up tonight which included a pizza. Went a picked it up, paid the bartender, she didn’t give me any dollars of my change back. Just the change (coin) portion of it. No biggie was only 4.00 so I just mentioned it to her while I was waiting for my food to be finished..and said it’s not a big deal you can just toss it in the tip jar which she did. Get back home pizza is not correct, has extra items on it we did not order. Call and explain, said they would make us a new “correct one” , fine, drive 20 minutes back to the restaurant to pick up a new one. She asked us to bring the other pizza back with us “like we were lying about what was on it” . Most places would be like our fault just keep it if you’d like. Nope. (We wouldn’t have eaten it anyways, but it’s just the fact of it). Go get the new pizza, doesn’t like offer to return any money or anything for the extra toppings they charged us for on the pizza they messed up. Normally I wouldn’t leave a bad review over a messed up pizza but this was far beyond ridiculous. Service, and food was poor. The new pizza was just a pile of grease, disgusting . For the way they upped the prices and all the little extra charges, this is what you serve and this is how you treat customers. We will NOT be returning. Lost our...
