I enjoy this place.. I love the fact that they offer The Giving Board and that you can donate a $10 meal. I’m very happy to support a local place and it’s a bonus when they support their community also! I do wish they had a few more side options- maybe a more traditional pasta salad that’s not Mayo based every once in while. I also wish the food was more consistent. Example- the first time I had the pumpkin soup it was fantastic! Similar texture to the Panera Bread Autumn Squash soup- not too thick but still coats your spoon nicely. The flavors were developed and there was depth to it! It was really lovely! However, the second time I ordered the soup it was water thin and tasted like raw pumpkin- nothing else. It honestly tasted like it wasn’t finished. Similar stuff happens with the hummus. Catch the hummus on a good day and it’s near perfection, but catch it on an off day and it’s far from it. Things happen and a place can’t be perfect all the time, I just think there needs to be more attention to some of the details in the kitchen. Like how much of something goes on a sandwich, in a quesadilla or in the recipe. If they can focus on those details then this place will be absolutely incredible!
I love the staff, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. You truly get a feeling of being a small town local when you eat here. Even if you’re not! I think that adds to the warmth and charm of this place while also making Bruce’s...
Read moreI ate here with my roommate last week on Friday. We were driving through the area and happened to stumble upon downtown Marion. Not knowing the area, we parked in the shaded side of the street and looked around. "Bruce's Fabulous Foods" caught my eye. From the outside it looked like a cute, little diner restaurant. We decided to check it out since we were very hungry.
I'm so happy we decided to eat here. The inside is small but nicely organized/spaced out. There were few patrons eating. We ordered sloppy joe sandwiches ("Sloppy Bruce"). I had not eaten sloppy joe in a long time. The meat was overflowing the sandwich! Tender, juicy meat. (I did order American cheese instead of the original cheese which came with the sandwich). The vegetable beef soup was homemade & delicious! The best part was the homemade cheesecake! (I ordered the banana pudding cheesecake. The slice was small and thin but delicious. Loved the soft vanilla wafer on top. You could actually see & taste the small banana slices inside the cheesecake.)
Service was quick. Servers were very friendly, polite, and loved chatting. I highly recommend this eatery! :)

Read moreMUST EAT! Everything we ordered was fantastic: often local, mostly made in-house.
As soon as we walked in the door, we were warmly and openly greeted by one of the owners, who promptly made us out-of-towners feel like regulars. Bruce himself was helping to serve tables and filled us in on the backstory of the restaurant and how he sources some of the goods in the restaurant.
He makes 39 different kinds of hummus (not a typo!), which is heaven for us vegetarians and vegans! Everyone was quick to point out what I could eat as a vegetarian, and it was tough having so many options. Spicy couscous even graced the menu with its impeccable flavor and texture. I also strongly recommend trying the spinach melt with added mushrooms. I wish I would have taken pictures, but we chowed down too quickly! And don’t forget the desserts with house-made cheesecakes and fruitcake (nothing like the dried holiday stuff we all know so well, but moist and packed with tastiness).
Absolutely dine here for the at-home atmosphere and phenomenal flavor, all at a...
