UPDATE: Eight months have passed since my first review of Del Taco which you will find below.
They no longer have the '20 Items for Under $2.00'. However, we normally don't order those, but I'm sure they were good for those on a budget or high school kids.
We go every week and eat there. However, the consistency of the milkshakes have changed--they no longer have ice cream in them. They are now the consistency of watered-down milk with strawberries. This is incredibly disappointing because we pay well over $4 for my hubby's strawberry shake and it is essentially pink milk with strawberries so we take it home and put it in the freezer, he waits 24 hours, then removes the shake from the freezer, then enjoys it. This isn't a 2 or 3 times occurrence, it is every order each week since December, and it's almost May 2024 now.
The Gold Peak ice tea was something I always looked forward to because it was the crown jewel of Iced teas however, it always (yes, always) tastes sour and usually has a scum over the top of both unsweetened and sweetened teas (they have pink, white and yellow sweetener packets for those of us watching our weight). We no longer order this because we don't want to get sick over it.
They have had a deal on their windows for a while now of 2 double cheeseburgers for $6. They are very good! Pair those with their crinkle fries and you're good to go. Make sure you sign up for their rewards and have them scan your code at the checkout, for free food.
FIRST REVIEW Very good variety of food to the point where it can be overwhelming (if you look at the menu inside).
They have smaller versions of food like chips and cheese (the queso cheesedip, not orange cheese powder) or mini tacos, smallest size shake, etc., under the "20 for less than $2.00" menu and when you order a meal of any kind, whether it's Mexican food or burgers or boneless chicken, you get a side of crinkle fries and I love those. I haven't had their burgers yet, but I've been told by several sources that they are the best you'll find anywhere. 🍔
Their tacos are significantly larger (yet cheaper) than Taco Bell, and they have burritos 🌯 that are normal size and larger than Chipotle burritos. They put a LOT of meat in their Mexican food, I've been here 5 times, and it's consistently a huge amount.
If you want Taco Bell's version of a Taco Supreme, then order "The Del Taco" 🌮. This does not come with sour cream; there is a .60 upcharge, which I get, and they put the sour cream on top of the meat where it belongs. They grate the cheddar there, and it is incredibly flavorful, and you get a TON of cheddar cheese.
My husband loves their shakes (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) because they are thicker than Dairy Queen's Blizzard. They give you a straw, almost the thickness of a turkey baster to drink it through.
ADDENDUM: I am now also addicted to strawberry shakes and their donut holes, which are fried while you are there. You get 4 (which they handle with care and put in a separate bag every time) for $1.49, and they are soft, warm, and sugared.
I love their brewed Gold Peak Iced Tea. My daughter loves their homemade guacamole, and her daughter loves their Iced coffee.
So okay, they have double burgers 🍔, Mexican food, boneless chicken tenders, and sub sandwiches, which they refer to as "Tortas."
They also have breakfast burritos.
They have specials on different days of the week, and they put buy 1 get 1 free coupons in your bag. They also have a drive thru. Their staff is always friendly, I've never seen a bad attitude, and we go 1 to 2 times per week for Taco Tuesdays and Taco Thursdays. We can't afford not to go as they knock Taco Bell and Chipotle out of the ballpark.
Google search their menu or download their app, and you can order ahead and either pick it up, use the drive thru,...
Read moreIt was a weird experience getting food from Del Taco. First, I asked about a senior discount, was told it would be given and it wasn’t. Second, I was asked about getting chips and Queso sauce instead of fries on our combos which I did and there was an additional charge for this on both our combos, something which wasn’t mentioned nor posted. Third, and the most concerning, the quantity and balance of meat to other ingredients was very off. Instead of being it being a chicken burrito it was a bean burrito with a small amount of chicken, instead of it being a steak quesadilla, it was a very thin cheese quesadilla with a small amount of steak. I voiced my concerns to the staff and said I questioned if I would come back and was told, they would try to do better. The annoying thing about this was not that the quality was bad, that was fine, rather the quantity of the food provided and its composition was miserly compared to the price, which was premium. I feel I was charged double what it was worth. I will not be back because it’s a rip off. So go to Del Taco if you want overpriced food and a meal that will leave you hungry or go elsewhere and get a high quality full dinner for the price Del Taco charges.
I posted this review and a machine responded trying to get me to sign up for promos to buy their lousy product! The arrogance and disregard this company has for customers is amazing. Don’t buy their product so they go out of...
Read moreSeveral months ago I placed an order online at Del Taco. The total cost was about $50. I asked my husband to stop and pick it up on his way home. When he arrived at 6 pm, the store was not open. My account was charged but we were not able to get our order. I called the next day and a young lady would not let me talk to the manager. Ok, maybe the manager wasn't at work. I told the girl about our experience and said I want to be reimbursed. I was told to take it up with my bank. She also advised that the crew decided to close the store very early and that was why we did not receive our meal. I told her I needed to speak with the manager. Honestly, I was wondering if the manager Even knew what had happened. She stumbled around telling me the manager isn't there much. Then she said "oh, here is a manager you can talk to" another young girl got on the phone and tried to tell me she is sorry this happened and my bank will reimburse. I wasn't buying it. I asked what the manager's name is. They refused to give it to me. I wanted it because I wanted to be able to call and ask for her. I hung up feeling pretty angry. The next several days I called each day and was unable to connect with the manager. I gave a 1 for this review but that is only because 0 is...
