On 8/8/23 I was on Lake James fishing with family and we decided I would go grab food from Smokey Que’s and bring it back to the boat for lunch. I drive about 15 minutes from the dock to the restaurant and order 2 BBQ Fries, a pound of pulled pork, 2 buns and a gallon of sweet tea for my family and I ordered myself a pulled pork plate with fries and corn nuggets. Somewhere in translation my plate got lost. When I returned to the boat and we all pulled out the to go trays we realized I did not have anything to eat. So I called the restaurant and talked to the manager. I wanted to know if I had gotten charged for it or not. If I was charged I was just gonna requested a refund for my tray only. But if I wasn’t charged for it I was fine but big deal everyone makes mistakes. But the manager I was speaking with turns out he was the owner! And this amazing man offered to drive over to the boat dock where we were to bring me lunch. I told him we didn’t have much cash but I could pay for it over the phone (I wasn’t charged in the original order that’s why it wasn't in the bag). He refused any money, we found $10 in cash on the boat but this man refused to take it. I was floored and amazed at his kindness. Needless to say from now on when we’re on the lake someone is going to Smokey Que’s for our lunch. Thank you so much to the owner for making sure we were all fed and were able to stay on the lake...
Read moreMighty fine mighty fine. Put near bought insurance as these fellers moved into new building about 40 foot to the side of their old place and some insurance feller set out his shingle in the old joint. Anyways they still have that big old smoking pistol out front so you can't miss it. Fun pistol to take pictures with ha I backed up quite a ways and made it to look like I was a holding it life-size on my wife. Lord we laughed at that one. Getting onto the food, it was good BBQ as we both had the pork sandwich. Red slaw is as fine as I've ever had and I love red slaw and eat it like salsa on my tater chips. Okra was good too and theys a couple or 4 BBQ piled on the table for you to try. Service was more n friendly and treated us good as family I reckon. I'd a liked some hush puppies but I reckon with inflation a carrying on they sell them as a side where as we used to get a basket full just for conversing as we waited on our food. Times and cornmeal are rough I reckon as hardly any BBQ joint doles out free hush puppies now. Reckon how corn cakes would fly in these joints? I'd sure like it but I like them with put near everything. Well worth the run up to or over to Murn to get some good BBQ...
Read moreWe stopped in after rave reviews and someone we knew went and liked it. We ordered the sampler along with wings. Sides we ordered were: Fried squash, corn nuggets, fried okra, baked beans, and red slaw. The pulled pork was ok just nothing to run and tell people about, the bbq ribs were edible but tasted as though they had been boiled, the pulled chicken had more fat than I wanted, the catfish was the best off the sampler. I liked most of the sides except the red slaw, it was just horrible and the fried squash was flavorless and if there was more than one fried together we got a mouth full of water🤮, the corn nuggets were the best of the sides. The wings were huge which it says on the menu,, we usually won't order big ones, BUT we tried them anyway. They were cooked all the way through and were pretty good, just our sauce was super sweet, so IF we ever return we will try a different sauce, although this one was SUPPOSE to be spicy, it had no spice at all.. Sooooo, the reviews we saw were quite off. My fiancé said he would go again just to see if it was an off day. I myself would rather pass. And I...
